Sebastian Shaw Vader head ( digital for 3D printing )

Thanks for the advice frogfreak. I wasn't trying too hard really, just a quick test without putting too much thought into it. The final head I intend to be 1:1 and the paint test model was small.

As for updates, I've been busy with a lot of other things, but I will get back to this and I WILL print it 1:1. But for now, I'm a real stickler for likenesses and I recently decided it wasn't quite close enough to Shaw so I'm revamping it. I'll also upload that V2 sculpt too at some point.

I can't wait to see it!

This is version 2. I know that's a pita but likenesses are damn hard, even for those of us that do quite a few of them. There won't be a version 3 :)
I spent more time really trying to nail his likeness and I'm feeling much better about where he is. I also wanted to make him feel a little more menacing than the previous version.

I'll upload version 2 just as soon as I've done some test printing.

Really looking forward to the coloring of this piece from you painters out there! I love the skin discoloration of the "reveal" in ESB and have always wanted to see that incorporated into the full reveal of Anakin in RotJ. While his paleness makes sense, I've always wanted to see that kind of palette on the back of the head applied naturally over the rest. Especially finding out much later that you've had your skin regrown from severely burned and damaged tissue.

Is there anyone who could offer painting service? Trying to paint this and make it look real would be impossible for me. I passed on the 1/1 Sideshow as the real product did not look nearly as real or good as the prototype shown.

I was using MeshMixer to scale it up and these are the measurements I recorded. The X-Y-Z axis may be different if you open it up in other programs, as they don't always angle the model the same, but at least this could give you an idea of how much to scale it up for full size - at least how I scaled it up.

The original model was the following measurements.
X - 181.19
Y - 218.60
Z - 277.99

Whereas my upscaled model came out at these.
X - 205
Y - 247.32
Z - 314.51

I'll go back and watch RotJ to make sure I got it exactly right and if I need to tweak it again to make it more accurate in size to the Vader helmet, I will post it here.

Again, really great work.

Anyone printing this that wants it to fully fit into the Black Series helmet and have the helmet be able to close should print it at the original file size. I printed mine a tad bit smaller than Too Much Garlic suggested and it's still to large for the helmet to be assembled over the head, it's fine if you only plan to use the lower jaw section.

Finished painting the head, now I need to modify the jaw section of the Black Series helmet.

Wow! Unbelievable likeness, and the V2 is even better! I kinda like the expression of the V1, but the V2 is even better, it's more subtle in its menace.

And ChicagoVader, nice paint job! The eyes are just the slightest bit off, but they're so difficult to do. What would be really neat is (if permission were grabbed, of course) if someone molded this, cast a hollow head and added some glass eyes!

Maybe you can do that with the print that you've got there, ChicagoVader.

Well, I was finally able to print this piece thanks to Lar3do Print and Daz and this is the result.

I hope that someone has the correct measures of the cast they sold some time ago at auction with the prosthetics to print a full scale
by the way it's my first realistic style painting job

That is incredible! It's so realistic! The likeness is amazing! Also what is the origin of the vader bucket you've got next to it?
