I like the idea or it being hollow. Personally I think it works better historically better to. I mean, think about it, there are all sorts historical pieces made out of then pieces of gold, and other metals. Some are complicated pieces made of multiple pieces ove once flat metal. But it it were solid, then the you have almost had to sculpt it, make a mold, melt the gold (bronze, whatever) and poor it in. A much hight skill level, and fair more expensive too.
Plus, it would make more since in Indy telling here it was worthless. I mean if I was holding some cheepy thin tin feeling thing, I would be far more likely to believe it was worthless, then if I was holding some solid piece of metal. If it was solid, it may not have historical value, but it woulld still be a big hocking chuck of simi precious metal.
