Staff of Ra headpiece, what's screen accurate?

I like the idea or it being hollow. Personally I think it works better historically better to. I mean, think about it, there are all sorts historical pieces made out of then pieces of gold, and other metals. Some are complicated pieces made of multiple pieces ove once flat metal. But it it were solid, then the you have almost had to sculpt it, make a mold, melt the gold (bronze, whatever) and poor it in. A much hight skill level, and fair more expensive too.

Plus, it would make more since in Indy telling here it was worthless. I mean if I was holding some cheepy thin tin feeling thing, I would be far more likely to believe it was worthless, then if I was holding some solid piece of metal. If it was solid, it may not have historical value, but it woulld still be a big hocking chuck of simi precious metal.

Here's a snap shot of mine on my budding Indi shelf.

everything ive seen from reelart has been huge piles of crap, the items are in no way comparable to what he has pictured

I'd totally believe the Raven Bar "Marion" headpiece was hollow. For one, it certainly seems thicker than the Map Room headpiece, which would mean one unweildly-heavy medallion if it were solid, and the entire piece seems a lot more subtle and finely crafted than the Map Room version.

I can't believe that after 25 years no one has ever tackled a replica of that version...

Ditto, someone make it!!!!

Just wanted to throw in some words about chrome.

Gold chrome comes in variaty of colours. Gold is not gold.
You should look into what coloration you want to it. I belive this piece should have a hint of bronze in it.

I whould describe the colour a old spanish gold.

My god man - learn how to adjust the font size! ;)

:lol Sorry about that, I'm blind as a bat, so I have to type it that big to see what I'm doing, and I usual size it down before I post, but I was in a hurry last night. :lol (Actualy I wish I could find a way to make everyone elses post come up that big, on my screen. :) )

You can do this in firefox, on the view menu "increase text size" and it makes everyones text as big as you want it. Works good. Check it out! I checked it in iE 7 and the option didn't seem to work.

Here in Indianapolis, IN at the Children's Museum we have the Incredible Costumes exhibit going on until May 2011. There is a case with the "Last Crusade" Jacket and Holy Grail, "Raiders" whip and Staff of Ra headpiece from the Paul Allen Family Collection.

I can say that the Holy Grail and Ra headpiece match the ones shown in the "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones - The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives book.

Surprised how much photoshop work has been done to the props in the book.

Anyways here are a two picts of the Staff of Ra headpiece. The original red jewel has been lost and replaced with a plastic painted jewel. On the backside the original glass or translucent yellow plastic one is still attached.

If you want to see some picts from the exhibit go to http://www.sandtroopers.com/events/indy_costumes/

PS. I have the crappy metal Staff of Ra headpiece from Reel Art (props). What a hunk of junk it is. Lucky for me I did not buy it but it was a gift that someone got me. Now seeing the real one in person, I want to upgrade to a more accurate looking one.

That headpiece is NOT screen used. That is the Headpiece that was sold back in 2007 through Profiles in History.

I have the same headpiece.

My headpiece is being appraised this Saturday by Profiles in History as well.

The most accurate replica is the one that Relicmaker and I did which is cast off my headpiece.

Thank you for the information. Yeah now I am taken back about all the items on display at this exhibit. The plaque for the Indiana Jones items say they are the real deal. If they are not it makes me wonder what else in this exhibit is fake.
