Tale of Tales - Movie .... WTF?

OK, I really enjoyed this movie because it was so unpredictable. Don't watch the trailer. Just watch the movie. Here is the plot.
"Three fairy tales revolve around a king (John C. Reilly) who must slay a sea monster, a giant flea and a womanizing ruler (Vincent Cassel) who's in for a surprise."

So many movies follow a predictable pattern. This movie doesn't make any sense yet it is really entertaining for that very reason.

It is three separate but loosely related stories but somehow you really feel for the characters. It is low budget film festival viewing; fairytales by Giambattista Basile. Won lots of awards.

Do not watch the trailer!!!!! Was free on Showtime, I think...

I saw this and the fairy tales gave me a nice "princess bride " vibe. Really whimsical even with the dark subject matter. I liked the Sea monster and the Flea. I also like how Salma Hayeks character fit into the story. Their were some very cool practical effects

Wait a sec...

Is it
Three fairy tales revolve around a king (John C. Reilly) who must slay:
1)a sea monster,
2)a giant flea and
3)a womanizing ruler (Vincent Cassel) who's in for a surprise.

or

Three fairy tales revolve around:

Sounds kind of Baron Munchhausen-y.
