This is my first build thread on the RPF and I am so excited to share my work with you! The build I am presenting today is an original costume design based off of Jinx from Teen Titans. I was a part of a Teen Titans cosplay group for Fan Fest 2014. The other two cosplayers portrayed adult/grown-up versions of Raven and Starfire. As Jinx does not have a "grown-up" outfit from the TT universe I had to be creative.
Here is a sketch I did for the costume...
I started by wrapping my dress form in saran wrap and painter's tape. This was done so I could draw on the custom patterns I had in mind for the character. Once I had the patterns drawn I cut them out using some spare fabric I was given and pinned the pattern design to the dress form.

With the layering and sizing correct. I moved on to cutting lining for the entire piece (as lining is incredibly less expensive than Lame). With the lining cut out I then pinned the piece together and placed it over the mannequin for sizing/fitting.

After some tinkering with the fit I perfected the size and proceeded with cutting the outer fabric, sewing it to the lining and sewing all piece together. Here is the final result (sans sleeves as those had to be customized a bit).

I created the scalloped cowl using measurements from the dress form and test muslin. I then proceeded with styling the wig (it was an Arda wig - lace front). All of this was created using custom patterns. I created the gem for the choker using a baker's flowering cup and clear epoxy resin died with RIT. The final creation time was about 2 days (with breaks in between as molds set - I was also assisting Raven with her build).
