Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet

Update: Here is the finished costume!

Hello! I've been hard at work on a Thanos costume for Free Comic Book Day. I didn't make a build thread since it was mostly just sewing, spray painting, and a little Worbla but thought I'd share now that I'm finished.

The Infinity Gauntlet was the most tedious part of the costume but my favorite. For some bizarre, masochistic reason I sort of really like making gloves, so it made sense to try and attempt THE glove. I sewed the gloves out of lambskin leather and made my Soul Gems with EZ Cast resin and clear nail polish. My friend Austin helped me laser cut the details out of some scrap leather.

Here's a video we put together documenting the build!

And the finished gloves.

I'll post pictures of the completed Thanos costume after Saturday. Work in Progress photos here!

Very nice! I made a Thanos costume last year, and made the gauntlet have light up infinity gems. I was out of shape then, and a total noob making the slip cast latex mask. Im going to do a Thanos 2.0 this year. Do a google search for "Thanos Cosplay" and it should come up. Im in better shape now, promise haha. Great job. Why do all the cool girls have to be somewhere other than San Diego?! =)

And yeah, a laser?! Whats up with that? I want a laser...

Also post pictures here! I dont have a facebook hehe.

The laser is preeeeetty awesome. It was great for getting those circles cut out perfectly. Austin is getting into designing mini terrain for tabletop wargaming so he's collecting some really fun tools. I've been trying to get him into some more serious prop building.

Your costume looks great! Cool gauntlet. :)

I'll put up pictures of the completed costume once we get some taken, but I also put all of my progress shots up here if you want to avoid Facebook: Contagious Costuming

Worbla is a thermoplastic that has an adhesive on one side. It works really well with craft foam to make armor pieces with! I got mine from Yaya Han's online shop.

Yeah, I watched the video last night, I want one haha. Seriously, with tools like that, he could make some awesome stuff.

Thanks so much! Making the gauntlet was the part I enjoyed the most.

Cool, Im at work now, but Ill check it out when I get home, cant wait to see the finished product.

Okay, so I have zero self control and put it together before Free Comic Book Day. I'll have some studio shots to add, but you can get the general idea. :)

You have given me a whole new appreciation for women who build and make costumes. You took a character who is the most masculine that I know of and pulled it off in female form! Of coarse your smile gives a chic sexy topping to the character but wow! Do you do this for a living because your good at it!

Holy ****. That looks freaking amazing. Everything right down to the detail. Damn. You put my costume to shame!!! Excellent work, you should be getting paid to make costumes like that lol. Before I did my own Thanos, I had never seen a Thanos before. Yours takes the cake though, great job!

That looks fabulous! Nicely done. You need a male Death to follow you around.....

Hey Notbob! Is that you in that Galactus suit? Did you go to the SDCC last year wearing that?!

Thanks so much, guys! I sort of went out of a limb, so I'm glad you like it! I was a little unsure about how it would turn out through the build.

That would be a fun costume to design. ;-) I think I might make my little bulldog a classic black Death cloak. She's great at looking unimpressed.

Oh by the way when is free comic book day? Last year was my first one so I can't remember the exact date.

Saturday!

Please do that. I think it would be incredibly awesome. It would make me giggle. Possibly make me snort milk through my nose.

You have a keen eye sir. That is me and I was at SDCC last year.

What did you use to make the blue part of the costume? I just used a lycra suit, yours looks way better, I love the color. Damn. Such a rad costume.

Holy hell Notbob, my friends and I were tripping OUT on your costume, it was clearly the best at the con. And you had that little silver surfer, made it even more awesome. Is there a build thread of your costume? We were dying to know what you made your suit out of. Going to the con this year?

Love it! Time lapse video is awesome! Contagious Media is a great name. I'm trying to come up with one that has a great ring to it. Thanks for conformation of this saturdays free comic book day! When I got to my local store last year most the good stuff was gone.

Damn it, looks so freaking awesome. I love everything about it, especially the boots, and the head piece. Oh and the gauntlet. ;-)

So did you sew that lightweight stretch denim yourself, or was it already in suit form?
