I’m not sure how many other people here know this, but as a hobby I write horror novels. For my latest novel, the story revolves around a haunted mansion that shows up overnight in Winterview City (think Winchester Mystery House appears in Manhattan). So, in the novel, a company called The Crow Corperation (think Umbrella-type shady organization) hosts a lottery to entice people to want to go inside on Halloween night. As part a promotional gift to send out with Advanced Readers’ copies, I wanted to include a prop invitation like in the novel, complete with the lottery ticket. While in the book the invitations come in glass tablets, that wasn’t feasible for obvious reasons lol. I’ve always loved the Golden Tickets from Willy Wonka and also the Last Action Hero tickets, so that was what the design was inspired by. Jintosh has done some incredible replicas using metallic tickets, so I thought I’d reach out and see what he was up to.
Fortunately, Jintosh was available to help me make this project a reality, and using some art another friend supplied, he was able to make not only the invitations but also the lottery tickets themselves! He took a few liberties that never even occurred to me, and I’m happy to say that the result was phenomenal. He had the idea to do them similar to the Chocolate Frog cards from Harry Potter, which I thought was brilliant. In that vein, we made a ticket for each of the five main characters, complete with their own custom serial number. Jintosh really knocked it out of the park, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.
