"The smuggler Han Solo owned a pair of gold dice that he used to play the sabacc variant known as 'Corellian Spike.' During a game of Spike against Lando Calrissian, Solo won his opponent's YT-1300 light freighter, the Millennium Falcon, thanks to those dice. Solo kept the gaming devices and hung them in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon as a lucky charm." -Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary

Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice. These are seen hanging in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. They are shown in no less than three separate scenes in the movie.

See this thread on how these were designed.

Mild spoiler:

(Rendering)

(Rendering)

The dice are 3D printed in real metal, and plated or polished in a finish of your choosing.
They are available in both 16mm and 19mm sizes.

The dice are available in three versions, two sizes and eleven finishes:
  1. Han's Lucky Dice (a pair of dice ready to add a chain).
  2. A single pendant version.
  3. A single D6 die, ready for gaming.

Bump,

I updated the design of the dice to be much closer to the shape seen in the movies.

Check out the Facebook group. Looks like someone's selling prints if your model.

Ya, it looks like he is using the file I published on Thingiverse (CC non-commercial). That file isn't as high quality as my shapeways version.
Really the dice have now been designed by at least five separate people so far, with varying levels of detail/accuracy.

Mine are a "idealized" version, meaning the icon shapes are straight and regular. Later, after a 4K release of the movie I will make a "Movie accurate" version. As in the movie the dice are much more worn with almost hand-cut icons. Some people seem to be trying to emulate this with misshapen icons.

Please report him to the admins. It's for stuff like this that I stopped sharing my CAD.

So my prototype has arrived! The prototype, as the current version has more accurately rounded corners.
These are the 16mm size. Click on any of the images to go to the product page.

Do you have pricing yet?

Re: TLJ, Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice, 3D Printed

Prices are listed on the Shapeways store (and below). It depends on the material and plating selected. I have tried to make the rendering for each material as close as possible to what Shapeways shows in their renderings. As you can see from the images above, the brass is polished to a high shine.

16mm: (Medium)
Raw Brass $198
Polished Brass $282
Polished Bronze: $272
14K Gold Plated: $287
14K Rose Gold Plated: $287
18K Gold Plated: $287
Rhodium Plated: $287
Polished Gold Steel (Rougher faux gold finish): $72
Polished Bronze Steel $64
Polished Nickel Steel: $72

19mm: (Large)
No longer available for dual set, see pendant page for individual pricing.

Note the prices are mostly for Shapeways material and labor costs. I make a few bucks on each order.
For the gold plated items, shapeways prints them in solid brass, hand polishes them, and then plates them.

If you want to hand polish and plate the dice yourself you can order them in raw brass.
If you want a lower cost prop for cosplay, then order the Polished Metallic Plastic and spray paint them gold.
The steel finishes can

The finish on the steel items can vary, even the nickel steel can end up somewhat bronze. These are good if you want an aged look.

/Edit Feb 12, 2019:
Shapeways has changed their pricing, the new prices are actual shapeways cost + a few bucks for myself.

The design has been updated after seeing some higher-res reference on the Starwars Youtube Channel.
The images on the shop will be updated in a day. You can reference the Shapeways generated renders to see the actual changes. (It is the last thumbnail visible on each material.)

Re: TLJ, Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice, 3D Printed

I have updated renderings of the newest design. See the first post.

Below are images of the 19mm size in Polished Metallic Plastic.
Note these are the Rev 2 design. So they are less accurate to the movie than the current Rev 3 design.
But they show the look of the material, as well as the size in my hand.

This material is good for gameplay dice. They act more like normal plastic dice, and won't dent your table like the brass and steel models will.
For the dice, not pendants, I have added the various colored plastics that Shapeways offers. That way people can get colored dice if they want them.

i wonder if Han's original Dice would have been another material, like bone or something like that and after he won the falcon with them, he got them gold plated?! Dunno jus wondering

Not to start a debate on the definition of die vs dice but...are the prices listed for 1 die or for a set of dice (2 each)? At these prices kinda need to know. :)

Re: TLJ, Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice, 3D Printed

@Heyjude7, I would bet in the Starwars lore you are correct. Even gold plated dice would be a bit impractical to use for gaming. Perhaps in the upcoming Han Solo movie we will see them in use.

@zjunlimited: The prices above are for a two (2) cubes, with attached loops for adding a chain. (Chain not included)
Also available on Shapeways is a single (1) cube with or without the attached loop. For more materials, the price is half that of the two cubes.

I make a bit amount on each item, the majority of the amount goes to Shapeways for material and labor. Note the parts ship directly from Shapeways, which is why the chain is not included. (The chain I used in the photos is here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M2622UP)

The Brass, and precious metal plated materials are first 3D printed in wax, and then cast like any traditional jewelry. The plated items are brass as their core and heavy in your hand. The Wax 3D print is higher resolution and higher quality than the directly sintered materials.

The lower cost steel and plastic materials are directly 3D printed in their respective materials. The resulting parts are somewhat rough, similar to sandstone. They are then tumble polished and finished by hand. Note the gold steel material is not real gold like the plated materials.

Re: TLJ, Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice, 3D Printed

Bump.

The dice have now been made in their various materials and are no longer "First to Try".

Re: TLJ, Han Solo's Lucky Sabacc Dice, 3D Printed

My original cast brass parts after a month of aging. They have been hanging from my rear view mirror.

Polished Gold Steel shown. This material have some visible print lines, as well as a pitted surface.

-------------------

Two dice shown in Premium Polished White Plastic. This material behaves the most similar to common dice. It will however pick up oils from your skin. It can be sealed with an acrylic clear coat.

-------------------

The files on Shapways have been updated to Rev 4, which means they are now even more accurate to the movie. (The small taper in the "i" icon was removed"
