I recently built a starship for a client where I used one of the engines from a Reliant model kit. This left me with a Reliant kit with one engine. What do to? Turn it into a short range boarder patrol vessel, named the USS Chatham:
With only one engine, the Chatham can't sit up by herself, so I built this U-shaped stand out of styrene sheet to support the saucer section.
I made a deflector dish using a piece from the Dick Tracy spaceship kit. The forward torpedo section was cut from the Reliant "roll bar" section.
I dug out a trench in the underbelly for the single warp engine to hang from.
It was surprising how easily this converted to a single warp engine ship.
The USS Chatham responds to reports of a Klingon ship having been sighted in the area.
