Lately I have been obsessed with building a replica of the Venus Space Probe from the Six Million Dollar Man. I have not been able to source any good information about what the prop was built from.

If you have any reference pics, measurements, or other info, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Steve Austin. Astronaut. A man who collected space mission patches.

Hm, Venus probe. I thought I had some reference on that in my files but apparently not. Lost in the great Hard Disc Crash of '08. :(

I do note that there was a toy version, but it's really rare.

By the way it moves, and turns, I believe that it was built on one of those six wheel atv's. It was also used in the movie "Heart Beeps".

Ooooh, I haven't seen this in a long time! aka Death Probe. It was the sound that scared the hell out of me. I still have the toy somewhere.

Good luck with making a replica! Can't believe they haven't released the series on DVD/Blu-Ray yet. Would be good for reference.

Found some info and pics here:

And Google search turns up a few pics as I'm sure you've found.

Crimebuster! My god, haven’t thought about that movie in years. Loved it. When I was 14. And I do recall recognizing it as the Venus Probe at that age.

It was built on a skidsteer(bobcat)
I think you’re correct. The bucket and attachments have been removed - possibly the cage as well. Some models back then had smaller, more sloped roll cages, which would have accommodated the conical shape of the Probe. These turn on a dime!

If they could do it for Steve Austin, then surely we can resurrect the Venus Space Probe here! :p

I'm trying to find the set photo I have from return of death probe, the cage was left in place, but it was open all the way around so the operator could manipulate the arm on the front, and control the spinning of the turret of sorts, he also had to control the yellow boxed in yellow light, you see behind the grating (the eye)..tv magic lol

I need to correct my last statement, I seem to recall the cage was removed, what i was seeing was the support brackets for the bucket arms..those early skid steers had tall roll cages on them..I mean really tall!
