Warehouse 13 - Claudia's (Farnsworth's) Farnsworth

]
I don't have high enough definition copies of the shows to see if the dial is set on a particular number during a call.

I doubt anyone would pay that close attention during production as to actually set the dial to a particular number.

Although I do like your theory as to what the "in-universe" dial is for and how it is set. Could be that only when you place a "call" do you need to set the dial for the Farnsworth you are trying to reach. If you are receiving a call, might not matter where the dial is set. There are other warehouses as well, so maybe the Farnsworths are divided among them. That's why Artie had to give Claudia Philo's, there aren't any other available to W13. Although they do have the blueprints, they could always build another. Although, if there are only a limited number of frequencies, the blueprints may only to build new ones to replace destroyed units and to repair broken ones.

Well there at least 4 of them; Claudia's (Farnsworth's), Pete & Myka's, Artie's and Mrs Frederick's. I'm wondering if there might be more of them lying about in the Farnsworth Aisle. I keep thinking that the dial numbered 1 to 12 is a unit selector so one can call an individual Farnsworth. So, there might be twelve.

I don't have high enough definition copies of the shows to see if the dial is set on a particular number during a call.

Fixed it. I've got it saying now that there is at least four with the possibility of more.

Remember that there are dead and missing agents so there have to be missing Farnsworth's.
They did find that Tesla on the missing agent first season.

Another couple of Claudia's, already posted but just a bit nicer screen cap.

It would be interesting to know though.

I assume each unit's number is "hard-wired" so as you say the dial would set for outgoing calls.

No there is only ONE warehouse in the world at any time and is placed where the power in the world is seated at that time.

Warehouse 1 was in the Kingfom of Macedonia 356-323BC.
Warehouse 2 was in Library of Alexandria.(egypt) 323-30BC.
Warehouse 3 was in the Western Roman Empire 30BC-434.
Warehouse 4 was in the Hunnic Empire 434-453.
Warehouse 5 was in the Byzantine Empire 453-813.
Warehouse 6 was in the Khmer Empire 813-1219.
Warehouse 7 was in the Mongol Empire 1219-1260.
Warehouse 8 was in the Holy Roman Empire 1260-1517.
Warehouse 9 was in the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) 1571-1566.
Warehouse 10 was in the Muhgal Empire (India) 1566-1725.
Warehouse 11 was in the Russian Empire (Moscow) 1725-1830.
Warehouse 12 was in the British Empire (London) 1830-1914.

They decided to break with tradition and put Warehouse 13 in an out of the way place. South Dakota 1914-present.

That's why Artie had to give Claudia Philo's, there aren't any other available to W13. Although they do have the blueprints, they could always build another. Artie gave Claudia this special one to show how much he trusts her and cares for her. I'm sure they must get damaged or break down but Artie has already said that they don't understand how they get their power and exactly how they work. It is also possible that just those four exist but it seems unlikely. Who knows what else is "kicking" around the Farnsworth Aisle.

Interesting... We know of four Farnsworths and Four Teslas (Pete/Myka, Artie, MacPherson, and the dead agent)...

Although, it's worth noting that MacPherson probably had a Farnsworth which would go a long way as to understanding how he was able to keep track of the Warehouse agents.

At first, I thought The Regents probably each had one, but it's far more likely they communicate via courier.

I don't know that it has been said yet, but the two antenna looking things on the top of it appear to be similar to welding or plasma cutting tips. There are hundreds of different kinds but here are some examples.

Re: Farnsworth's Farnsworth! Spoiler

Also, the Claudia Farnsworth viewscreen seems to be WHITE, as seen here; http://www.rubyblade.com/images/farnsworth.JPG
and it looks to me incredibly like those push-in closet stick-up lights you can grab from your local store or supermarket. I used
one in my own Farnsworth reproduction.

Can you recall where you got the closet/push light and what brand it was? Finding one the right size online has proven tricky.

I don't know if we ever saw McPherson use a Farnsworth. I don't think they can be used for a "conference call" as they seem to be a point-to-point type communicator.

Maybe he was able to modify one as a tracker of some sort like Claudia did to home in on Farnsworth frequencies, but I don't think McPherson's technical understanding of the Farnsworth was any greater than Artie's. I think Claudia's technical skills are way beyond Artie's as he had her do the scanner mods and he seemed to have no idea what she was talking about when she said that Farnsworth changed the "signature" of the 3D projector's innards. Artie asked "meaning what exactly?"

It's interesting that at the top of the blueprints for the Farnsworth it is referred to as a "Vaudio Device".

Well, the term "video" didn't exist at the time, so Farnsworth probably decided to call it "Vaudio", short for "visual audio", which is basically, a picture. I wonder if the real Farnsworth used that term for the projected image when he made television?

I've been raiding the local yard sales for parts, and getting quite lucky! Found two matching red center knobs for the Farnsworth's last week, and one 3"push light for a dime!
Found a 1920's apartment intercom (all brass) that's gonna make a cool something-or-other someday!

I also went back and watched the pilot and when Artie shows Pete and Myka the communicator, he says "I call it a Farnsworth. It's named after Philo Farnsworth. He invented that in 1929 right after he invented television. Isn't that remarkable?"

So I guess that means it was made in 1929 or at least conceived then.

Maybe then if the blueprints, which were for the Farnsworth/Claudia version, say 1944, that unit came later as an improved model. Or maybe the blueprints were drawn up years after the units were made so they'd have a circuit diagram if something broke.

In case anyone is interested in buying ABS boxes for this project from Wheatley UK, Malvern 6" 82xx series fly boxes (without foam inserts) are priced at £9.25 each and £7.50 shipping (at least to Australia but I assume that is their normal international shipping rate)

Remember as it isn't a normal stock item without the inserts, it must be ordered via an email with credit card details.

My contact has been Mark Woof at info@richardwheatley.co.uk

And now with the airing of the latest episode we know that there is another Farnsworth in the possession of the Warehouse doctor Vanessa (Lindsay Wagner).

I was doing a recent count of these things and we know about

Farnsworths (6+)
--------------
Pete/Myka
Artie
Mrs Frederic
Doctor Vanessa
Claudia (Farnsworth's)
McPherson - it's probably fair to assume he had one but we never saw it

Dead agent Jack Seacord - did he have one or would his partner Rebecca have had it as Pete and Myka share one. It was likely it was turned in when she retired from the Secret Service so it may be one of the units we've seen already.

Teslas (4+)
-------
Pete/Myka
Artie - may have more than one stashed around his office
Dead agent Jack Seacord - damaged beyond repair one assumes
McPherson - we saw him zap Artie with it in the final episode of season 1
Mrs Frederic - has bodyguard/helpers so she doesn't need one. Do they carry one or just use normal guns?

It's fair to assume that there are some spares of each stored in the warehouse.

I got my Wheatley Malvern series ABS boxes today and they sent me green ones not black. Aaaarrrgghh! They are the right boxes though I think as they have the right hinge structure.

The other thing about them is they have a logo on a section of the lid that is outlined with a groove. ie the lid is not completely flat. This detail could not be seen from the pictures on the website. I'll try to get a photo of it.

I overexposed this a bit with the flash to try to bring out that detail a bit more.

I suppose I could fill it and paint the box black but it just makes more work and I am feeling so lazy right now. LOL

You have the right case, just the wrong color. Note the shape of the case in Claudia's left hand. You can see the small ripple shape near her thumb. The Malvern cases do not have a completely smooth surface like the aluminum models.
