X-Men Rogue Yellow Boots

Hi all - I'm working on a Rogue costume and going for the Jim Lee / 90s cartoon look. I'll be looking through the boot shops on Hollywood Blvd, so I might find something there. If not, I'm thinking these GoGo boots might work if I add a matching yellow vinyl piece above the knee. Has anyone done this before or have any tips? Thanks!

My girlfriend has cosplayed as Rogue before, but she used boot covers. I think she wants to redo them though, since she wasn't especially happy with them because boot covers tend to rip and get dirty easily. I think she was thinking of making boots out of vinyl material.

Okay. Here's what I ended up doing.
I found some brown boots online that fit the look I wanted. They're man-made leather, so I bought yellow vinyl paint and spray painted them. It worked perfectly. I used a whole can (4 coats) and could maybe have used a little more. Later, my husband airbrushed a little acrylic yellow over them to color match my bodysuit. Then I used double-stick fabric tape to attach the green ties. Pictures below. I forgot to take a final photo before wearing them so the finished product is post-SDCC. You can see they have a little wear in the areas that flex, but still held up well. I'll touch them up now. They were comfy all day and I'm happy with the final result. Yay! Super boots!
