The journey never stops!
When
DaveChaos announced his metal kits, I could not have hit the DM quicker and ordered the parts I needed for my build. The plan was to simply replace the Bulldog and Steyr parts on my 3D printed prop, and retain whatever good components I already have.
The package arrived in August 2023 and I cleaned up the Steyr receiver right away. Then life got a little crazy and the project had to be shelved away until...well, circumstances improve.
Yesterday, being the second day of the Chinese New Year, the time seemed right. So, here we go.
My posts henceforth will be brief and more of show-and-tell.
wayouteast has an incredibly detailed build
post that I highly recommend.
I picked a few parts to start working on, thinking I would just take my time to enjoy the process. Boy did I enjoy it! I spent a full afternoon removing seam lines and flashes, and polished them to a reasonable shine.
The finishings don't look refined, and that's fine with me. I want my prop to look well-used, so the imperfections in the casts fit my vision perfectly.
To be continued!
