Gloves for Dread Pirate Roberts costume

As the title says, I am trying to figure out what kind of gloves are needed for a Dread Pirate Roberts costme from the Princess Bride. I've looked at fencing gloves, but I'm not sure that's right.
Any insight or links or whatever wold be most appreciated!!

Are fencing gloves what I want or is there something else that someone can share??

They look like medium-length black guantlets, but split (vented) to the wrist:

I would just by a pair of long fencing gloves and cut them down to match.
