First Order TIE: How many variants?

Seriously not certain what forum is most correct for this. But, even if they're CGI, they're still the only canon evolution of the veritable TIE fighter. So, I was watching the trailers trying to get a sense of whether the new TIE's wings are translucent. No conclusion there, but I did notice something else (and, apologies in advance if this has already been mentioned).

No gear/wheel dealey on the inner wing strut on the MkII. Or, maybe the Tatooine chase sequence occurred post-ROTJ, but pre-TFA?

There are definitely at least 2 versions of the First Order TIE. I haven't seen any others.

I prefer the version without the gear/wheel on the inside of the wing. It looks most like the original TIE Fighters.

Your "Mk I" is a 2 seater special forces TIE. The second pilot sits facing the back and sees through a long horizontal canopy. What his role is, I am not sure. Check our HASBRO's Black Series TIE and you will see it. Pic below.

There is a full size version of the MKII TIE on display at an airport in China or Hong Kong. I like the heavy plating on the wing hubs.

I think you're thinking of Changi airport in Singapore. It's about 1/2 scale, but there's a full size T-70 too.

Comparison of the two models Bandai is releasing

First Order Tie Fighter - the ion engines seem to have been redesigned and placed at the top and bottom instead of left and right. Also in shots from the movies you can see a red glow on the wing arms which may or may not be engines. Although on this Bandai model, it looks like they left off the engines all together

First Order Special Ops Tie Fighter (two seater). Looks like they took bits that used to be something that looked like the back hatch and put them where the engines would be.

There may be more variants we haven't seen yet in this movie or the next, but those two cover anything we've seen in the trailers so far

If they misinterpreted the original TIE aft section as an engine, then the First Order TIE has one central one and the Special Ops TIE has two smaller ones on either side.
