Civil Protection From half life 2

Long time since an update. This is due to the U.Ks weather -.-' *so cold*

As for the update...

All i've managed to do is fnished sanding and put a first coat of paint on the master.

Theres still some minor scratches ect so i need to get rid of those before casting.

Everyone Starts some where :D

:) Well I might have to at this rate :) I will be posting updates soon I'm just getting some silicone and plastics ect :)

Thanks for the feed back :D

It's looking great, but like most metrocop mask replicas, there's a few things about it that could use improvement that I have a hard time putting my finger on.

Add a little depth/grooves under & around the eyes. Dirty it up a little, or add a touch of gray.

exactly what im doing to this helmet lol :) I'm currently worrking on the "grooves" under the eyes by adding apoxie sculpt round them, I should have it done soon so il post some pics when i can :)

Thanks for the feed back :D

UPDATE:

Right so the helmet is now ready for casting and I'm going to be making a two part mold. I'll be using a Polyurethane Fast Cast Resin.

I've also made the "ear pieces", these are the disk shaped parts on the side of the helmet.

I started off using the top of a small hair gel pot and a part from an old Mc Donalds toy :) talk about being resourceful. I made sure that it was a symmetrical shape so I wouldnt have to make two.

I then made a mold of it and casted two out of fiber glass resin and sprayed them with some primer.

I filled in a few air wholes. I used pieces of plastic and glued them to the ear pieces.

Now im going to make a mold and cast them out of plastic as soon as I
order some.

Looking great man. Glad to see some other game items esp from HL2, looking forward to the final..final piece :)

I love watching this one progress. I do hope for a JY thread. This seems like such a fun costume for conventions.

update :D

I've started making the mould :D, I'm making a 2 part mould.

not much else to report :), enjoy the pics :D

Also any suggestion on what to make the mould shell out of? I was going to just use car filler, or plaster bandages with car filler, im trying to avoid fiber glass matting.

I agree with what you're saying. The masks in costume are too light. If you ever get your hand on the Soviet-era gas mask the Metro-Cop masks are based on, look at the way the color works.

But all in all, this is a great improvement on the original work you did: the smoothing helps make it look more authentic. If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say that when you're wearing the mask, lean your head back a bit.

From what I can see, it looks like the way a head sits inside of the mask causes the whole thing to pitch forward, making your head look taller. If you could find a way to stuff it so it pitches backwards, I think it'd help.

(The reason I suggest this is because I'm building an Overwatch helmet, and I've encountered a similar problem)

Wow! This looks great. I can't wait to see this finished.
The 2nd sculpt is a big improvement I think you have got the proportions just right.
How is it going now?
