Dune (2021) Still Suit build

So, just resurrecting this as I am currently building a few suits for the new movie release.

But I still haven’t seen it anywhere, other than the 3D models that were posted. I happened upon what I believe are the same buckles used in the film on the still suit cod straps:

So, they only ship within Italy or to verified companies, so I have an Italian contact whom happens to be a member of this board who’s ordering them and shipping them to me.

Will verify their the correct ones when they arrive.

Got mine here, and he ships to USA

They’re bronze, so just need a quick paint job, but I’d say pretty accurate

What are the black and white oval parts used on the cutouts for the straps? Thanks for any help!
Those are some 3d printed, flat, plastic oval rings that I ended up painting black and gluing on top of the slots on the hip pads. The screen used costumes have them as well, and I'm assuming its so that the strap that goes through them doesn't rip the hip pads? I'll try to find some pics...

Thanks!, Yes I noticed them on the actual suits and assumed they were there to prevent tearing. I will design some to print, just didn't know if they were a bulk buy or something.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates, but I was crunching hard on this build for a convention this past weekend. Safe to say this costume is officially COMPLETE. I can rest finally

I filmed the rest of the process for my IG reels (@carmenvalentina) and TikTok (@carmenvestrada) series which ill be uploading throughout the rest of the week. I didn't take much "in progress" photos though, just videos since I was on such a tight deadline. But ill share with you guys the photos I did manage to get, and once I start going through my in-cosplay photos ill be sure to share them here too!

The hardest part was probably the leg ribbing and trying to figure out the pattern for the cloak. For the leg ribbing, I covered the foam caulking dowels in the same fabric as my suit and sewed each one into it's own pocket. For the cloak, it was difficult but I believe I figured out a pretty accurate pattern for it though after a lot of mock-ups. I custom dyed the fabric, which was crinkle gauze cotton. I used two separate versions of it (one has a weave that just goes along the grain and the other is more a true gauze that has a weave going both along the grain and across. I left the true gauze in the dye bath a lot longer to get it a bit darker like in the film, and used that for the hood/scarf wrap. I also dyed linen for the shoulder detail, top of hood and arm ribbing like in the film.

All the foam parts were airbrushed with neutral grey paint and then weathered and dry-brushed with a bone color. I also airbrushed parts of the ribbing slightly with the neutral grey to give it the same look as the film. I plan on weathering the cape a lot more but given my time constraints it didn't happen. Ideally I would like to weather it and airbrush the bottom. The back dowels fall a little too low past the butt piece as they're supposed to stop there so ill have to shorten the under shirt a little later on.

If you guys have any questions, let me know
Hey! You probably wont see this but I've been working on a stillsuit design from Alyson Tabbithas's original shape. I was wondering how you made your cloak? It looks wonferul and I would love something similar to it but I just cant get any details about the material, length, etc about it. obviously it doesn't have to be accurate length, but your build process could be really beneficial for me. Thank you!

Not to talk down on Alyson's patterns she made those in a record time ! but there are a few more accurate and free patterns available now including the latest revisions of mine available here Dune Stillsuit Laser cutting patterns by XavNZ92 also someone made a pattern for the cloak and it is available (for purchase) on etsy even though the ones in the film were actually just wrapped lengths of fabric that were literally bobby pinned to be easy to remove and put on in the desert heat.

Do you think I could get a link to the Etsy as well? I looked around but didn’t really find anything.
