My life size General Grievous.(complete head painted & new eyes)

Re: My life size General Grievous.(Complete head and neck finally finished!)

My goal, if I can afford it, is to get:

  • head
  • neck & collar
  • one set of right forearms (2 forearms/6 fingers -OR- one right forearm and 3 fingers (depending on the price)
  • one left foot
That's all I need... :cool

Re: My life size General Grievous.(Complete head and neck finally finished!)

So southreplicas how many molds of these pieces are you making for us who want them and how much is the total figure?

Re: My life size General Grievous.(Complete head and neck finally finished!)

WOW! That's awesome!

How'd I miss this thread? :redface

Re: My life size General Grievous.(Complete head and neck finally finished!)

It will simply be an illusion. :)

I plan to build a skeleton/armature, probably out of PVC and heavy gauge wire or metal (maybe conduit) for easy breakdown so I can transport it to events, that will show Grievous in a "crouching/kneeling position", with him with his right knee and left foot on the ground (again, crouching/kneeling will mean that he takes up less room for travelling since he'll be much shorter in a crouched-down pose). There will be a "base" that the "skeleton" will attach to that will most likely be made out of wood.

I will attach the neck/head/collar, arm, and foot in their correct locations, and affix them to the "skeleton". Grievous will then be shrouded in his cape (which will be closed in the front, except for a slit on the right side so the arm can exit). The head will be visible, the right arm will be visible, and the left foot will be visible (he's on his right knee, remember). Since it will be obvious that he's kneeling, the observer will just assume that the right foot and left arm are concealed inside the cape. No one ever has to know that there's no body or complete set of appendages. :cool

This is probably confusing at this point, so here's an approximation of the "look" that I'm going for (center image). You'll notice that you don't need all of the parts to have a Grievous! ;)

I've also included pictures on either side of LFL artists' concept drawings showing Grievous with only 1 arm, and most of the rest of him obscured by the cape. THIS is he "look" that I'm going for. :D

I've been planning this for almost 2 years slowing collecting mini shock absorbers and other parts. These resin parts would greatly speed up my completion time. :thumbsup

It is a very nice display idea.
Obviously with a light saber in his hand!

Let's be in touch.

Yes. I'm planning on getting a MR FX to put in his hand. The kids at our 501st events will love it. I'm going to have to put up stanchions and ropes, no doubt. :lol

Let me know how much the parts I need would cost. I'm trying to do this as inexpensively as possible (if you hadn't noticed). This won't be a grand display item in my house, but rather a "oooh! Look! It's General Grievous!" display for people who are at our events. They tend to be less... "picky" about accuracy than I am. If you have any "less than perfect" casts (at a discounted price) that I could clean-up/patch/reoair, or the like, I might consider those too. It beats throwing them away! ;)

Either way, A grade or B grade parts, let me know! :thumbsup

Re: My life size General Grievous.(Complete head and neck finally finished!)

New update!
Changes are not too visible because I spent a lot of time re engeneering the assembling (mounting) system to make it easier and adding details to the surfaces. The collar is completelly redone.

Thank you all for your words!
... and finally it is painted...
Here are some pics. Let me know if you want them in a higher definition.
It took its time because it's a marbled texture.
I also added the "microphones".
