1:1 Indiana Jones In-Progress

How you will make the legs and arms, I always thought if I ever make a 1:1 Lifesize figure, I will use pipes or wood sticks as the basic, and make the arms, legs and the body from PU. But thats very expensive...

Legs will probably get cross-sectional forms too, then wrapped and padded for muscles. Arms will be PVC pipe with a so-far secret method to add adjustability! ;) Stay tuned!

Forgot to add this one last night...

I t IS a pretty funny looking pic isn't it!? :lol

Not much progress tonight. Well... Not too much to show for anyway. I did three cross-sectionals for each thinh, and can safely say that was the hardest thing so far. I won't bore you with the details.

Tomorrow I'll start on the neck and shoulders. Pretty excited abut that because I devised a pretty neat way to puul it off, and found the perfect element to do the shoulders with.

Thanks Rob! As mentioned, I will get teh neck and shoulders done today, and with any luck will start skinning the figure.

You know the Raiders prop you hardly see in displays (especially the ones depicting the opening scene)? The torch with the dart embedded in it. Even if it is just lying on the ground. I like continuity.

Good work, by the way.

I was actually considering doing that.

But dammit no I can't cause if I do you'll say "Hey that was MY idea!"...! :p ;)

I'm so digging this thread ... your off to a fantastic start. I'm very interested to see how this all comes together! :thumbsup

Shoe test guys...

I just cannot rationalize $400 footware for a static figure, at least not right now.

The russet-colored shoes, though not boots per se, are the closest I've found to the Aldens.

Close to Aldens or not, in your opinion, which of the two pictured do you feel is better?

More pics here...

A quick note... After having the Chewie15 bust for sometime now, I've realized how well reproduced the anatomy is. Howard has included the clavicles into his sculpts, which helps considerably in adding shoulders.

I'd go with the shoes at the top... And I can't wait to see this display finished!:D
(Please, put a "mossy" wall behind him!:D)

I'm thinking the lighter colored shoes as well. Neither is really an Alden, but with some weathering, and with the pants on, the top ones may work ok as a temporary solution.

I agree that the display would benefit from some type of wall... I toyed with the idea of doing a quarter of the pedastal the idol rests on. But at the moment, I'll focus on the floor and the figure first.

Didn't get as far as I wanted to today (no skinning or musculature yet).

But did get the neck and shoulder mounting system locked in place. The black ABS part (see pic) will be the shoulders. It is nearly perfect, especialy once it gets padded for muscle.

I added one more cross-sectional for the thights to help shape them.

And I experimented with some concrete patching compound on the base (and I closed off the front of the base too).
