1/16th scale Snowspeeder Scratch Build

Re: 1/19th scale Snowspeeder Scratch Build

I have the 4 engine boxes finished in terms of basic shape,
but a lot of work to go on making the grills, air brakes, air brake
lift supports, toe pockets, panel lines, recessed housing for for
air brake supports and detail.:thumbsdown YA those rear boxes are a model
alone!

This is the generator for the laser? :lol Anyway it"s PVC and evergreen strip and channel. The second stage that sits in front of the channel will
have to be done with clay as it bevels down into 3rd stage.

Re: 1/19th scale Snowspeeder Scratch Build

These are the new figure sculpts they are pretty close to the scale of my model
which is 1/19th they are totally un-buffed like POTF figures from 1995. Close enough for me anyway so I will live with them!:thumbsup

POTF Left New sculpt right.......

the build I have been following with great interest and it's looking fantastic but what I have been trying to work out is have you made it completely of 2mm for the body skins and frame

Hey mug yes all is right around 2mm or just a tiny bit smaller.
I had to go back and re-do the rear boxes again!!!!:lol Should
be rolling again with this after my last Triathlon this coming Sunday,
so should have some more progression Mon & Tues thanks for following.

Ok got the rear boxes re-done, and I am starting on the inner boxes that house the lifting arms for the air brakes.

Wow, this is really looking fantastic! I love a good scratchbuild, to me it is the ultimate in modeling and you certainly seem to be skillful at it. Kudos to you.

A little query though, do not want to hijack the thread or steer it off topic. But can anyone tell me why a flying craft like this would ever have been equipped with a harpoon/tow cable? As a "real life" analogue I imagine a harpoon and cable on something like an F-16 and how it would not be usable.
Anyone know?

Again...this is really looking nice.

Regards, Chris

No worries in the SW "universe" the speeder is just a repulse craft,
thats why you will see it called Armored snowspeeder. The Rebels added the weapons as in the laser cannons. But they are commonly used as small tugs to pull cargo around thats why the harpoon and toe cable are fitted.

Been a while started sorting out on of the small boxes
that sit inside the main box at the rear, where the
air brake supports ride.

This ended up to be a combination of the FM kit and the old kit,
from looking the old kit is more true to the bottom of the filming
mini!:lol
