2-1B Surgical Droid

ha, i just did this in paint, looks just like those (robot nipples)

i forgot there is another tube on its left eye. ai was going to use the ends of these screwdrivers for the "eye tubes" inbetween the 3 leds.

-z

they only appear to be on the Bacta tank 2-1B though (and if I see that right, they are oddly placed). One more reason to do the other version :D

thats why i did the sculpt with no spikes this time.

i was wanting to produce the bacta tank version.

the 2 center ones are in between the 3 leds each side, the larger tube appears to be off to one side.

yeah I'll be skipping those eye tubes... I never liked them.

Also Bacta tank version has a little greeblie on the HML of the mic piece.

yeah like an upside down comb thing.
heres some nipples for you, what you rekon?

the top ones are from the hic panel

Hmmm…
Those "spikes" look a lot like Button Head Allen Screws to me. They could be wide flange rivets, or a combination of both.

It's hard to know if what we are seeing in the pixilated images are digital artifacts where the digital camera is artificially creating edges or drastic color changes in pixels that are not really there in real life.

hmm, I'm liking how this thread is turning out...robot nipples, will never look at those the same way again.

Good work on all the detail work.

I have a mic question. Are you guys mounting the Mic on the outside or enlarging the hole so the mic sits recessed a bit. I decided to cut it out so my mic sits a bit recessed.

This is just so cool to me. I tend to geek out over these secondary droids seen onscreen and 2-1B has always been one of my favorites. I need to pick up one of these sometime!

I mount the mics with the small lip on the inside of the metal housing inside the face, the main part sits flush outside.

Hey Zorg, Are you going to make the clear base of the head too? I saw you made the neck ring. How much is this head cast shipped to the US? Thanks, I really enjoy your work!

So, now the really HARD question. Anyone got any ideas as to what is used INSIDE the mic cage? The cage is clearly not covered inside the strip lines so that you can't see in, and there's obviously something in there that takes up about half the space (as seen in Scottjua's great screencap). Zorg's magazine cover pic also shows a bit more of the detail.

No idea, nobody has clear photos. Looks weird being hollow therefore I attached a circuit board, painted it black and added a metal black plate over 3/4.

Btw Zorg, save those screwdrivers, an antenna from a remote toy works just as well. Plenty of different dia to use

What if I wanna play with that toy?

You think I'm made of money!!!!!!1

Hmmmm, very cunning rob.

Maybe the toys could become......"broken"

:)

best i could find in my files

please note the coloured wires inside the clear tubing.
