That's just about it for this build, next up is the TIE!

Excellent work. Beautiful prints and I love the weathering and colors

The orientation of those gun tips is kind of odd though, but that is also how the smaller MPC snap model was. I think they are like that in ESB or ROTJ when they used the larger MPC model?

Ha, good call, I will have to look more closely at some examples and see. They slide out so easy to adjust.

And thanks!

Go with what you like

I mean, there is no reason those things could not rotate after all. Like maybe when the wings are close they rotate to that position, and then back to vertical when the wings open

at any rate, there is a "canon" example of both orientations

Okay, time to get the TIE wrapped up!

As I said in a previous post here somewhere, I don't trust that this model will not have issues with drooping down the road, time to remedy that.

Started off building a very simple center structure (using my non-existent 3D modeling skills).. that I can use to support the entire model, this way there is almost no stress on that actual kit itself.

Sliced the part in half so I could print it support free and ensure the inner holes were nice and round:

This will be the 'heart' of the armature to hold both the wings and the inner cockpit.

This is pretty much how it will look:

I also added some aluminum tube just for good measure and to help attach the wings:

Other than attaching the inner cockpit to it, this is the final result:

Now, onto the lights! I used to hate adding lights to models but now I can't help but add at least a few, even some extras that are probably not canon, luckily it makes no difference to me.

You can see here that with just a little bit of shim use thanks to some styrine, the cockpit is glued to the center support. Once everything was set I added a bit of putty epoxy just for good measure.
