THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL :cry . You should be proud to have a sword made by the same guy who made the LOTR swords we all know and love. It's like the next best thing to having the actual props from the films. Peter is my favorite swordsmith and I wish I could have a duplicate of every sword he's ever done because I like them SO much. Sadly, I dont have enough to spend on a custom sword
, so I must marvel at the beautiful swords that others get (not that I don't enjoy that either
.)
I am a sword freak myself (I've even wanted to get into smithing and building swords for myself and others, mainly friends), but I'm not THAT good at sword lingo and such so this thread is kind of confusing, so here's a few questions:
1. It does look like it is Narnia inspired as well. Did you have that in mind?
2. How do they hollow and shape the wooden grip and fit it over the tang? (This has baffled me for a while regarding sword construction)
3. How'd they get that ring around the grip? Wouldn't it be rather floppy if it was merely slipped over?
4. How much did it cost? (This applies to all of your swords you've showed too.)
5. That other big sword looks like Narsil/Anduril. Is it a custom sword and is it functional? How do they make a Narsil like pommel with that triangle shaped hole and how is it attached to the tang? (Asking because I'm confused about how they pulled it off in the movies with that hollow pommel and not have the blade go flying out since I thought swords had the tang pass through the pommel and were peaned over at the end(BTW, how's this done too?) and thus would show up in the pommel hole of a Narsil-like sword.)
6. How do they build this custom sword's pommel and how do they hollow it out for tang fitting?
7. Are you the same guy who had that custom Anduril built and showed it on swordforum.com? That thing was nice. Could you please post pics?
Thanks in advance for answering.
Seth
P.S.-- Keep the pics coming. I can't wait to see this finished.
