Dallas Belt match.jpeg

This Looks like it!
  1. The Ring - Even in the zoomed blurry image we can clearly see texture there - the wreath. - match
  2. The Medallion - There is clearly texture there. But I think that the production probably attempted to remove the dragoon symbol by sanding or some other means.
  3. The Belt Loops - In proportion to the Ring and Medallion - Looks spot on!
This is a Royal Regiment of Wales belt buckle! But of course not just any buckle, from my research, this particular buckle design was only produced and made available to members of the regiment in the early 70’s. I was finally able to put my hands on two of these rare pieces!

The shape of the buckle then changed to this more standardized version:

P.S - I looked through hundreds if not thousands of types of British buckles from different time periods, and this one is by far, the best match! Unless someone has the original, I think this is it! Maybe I’ll ask Tom Skerritt

Possible...as for asking Tom; that'll be your best bet;)(y)(y)

“Hi Mr Skerritt, Pleasure to meet you. I have a question, Ahmmm, Do you remember if this is the belt you wore about 45 years ago?”

stephen210 and I did meet Veronica Cartwright a few years ago, and we did ask her if he remembers that French liner jacket? Her answer was “I wore that?!”.

After all, at the time, it was a JOB and they moved on..

Some actors (specially Method actors) have the tendency to remember their outfit in details since it's an integral part of their character.
I recall a story about a fan buying one of H. Ford's Blade Runner shirt at auction and getting, years later, a picture of him and Harrison together.
The fan explained that Harrison saw and recognized the shirt immediately and was really excited to talk about the process of wearing it for days to inhabit the character of Deckard.;)

Red circle looks to be a large plate heat exchanger plate. GREEN circle looks like a differential housing.

Why do you think it is British? This seems to look very close... The belt is even green.
Well it was an assumption, and a good place to start. The film was produced in the UK, John Mollo was British, and he used what he had available which were mostly UK military bits and pieces. When I was conducting my search I didn’t only look at British belts.

Correct the webbing is green just like Dallas’s. But this buckle is all wrong:
  1. The belt loops are square instead of rounded.
  2. The medallion with ring are taller then the belt loops, needs to be the other way around.
  3. The ring is overlapping with the belt loop, as opposed to no over lap.
Just to name a few..

If anyone comes up with a better match, Please do!

Of course, all your points are valid. I actually noticed that the belt loops were square after I posted.
My main suggestion was that the search could go beyond the British domain.

Here is my interpretation of the crew jacket to add to the many here.

Last year, I spotted a Japanese-made MK3 RAF Cold Weather Jacket in black from Waiper on Japanese shopping site Rakuten for about £200. Expensive yes, but as black is my colour of choice (and I'm never going to find an original RAF blue/grey/purple version), I couldn't pass it up. UK customs stung me for fees and VAT though.

cheers all
Steve

The black version looks AWESOME. Just goes to show, you don't have to reproduce 100% screen accurate to get a great result.
