Angelina Jolie's gun from "Wanted" WIP

after two attemps at decals and then eventually repainting it again, i have not made any more progress on decals. looks like i will have to paint it by hand......ugh

i had just printed out the picture of the gun and then cut holes where the details were as an experiment, but it didnt really work--it bled through......

really? thanks! i just did the left side handpainted and it turned out pretty good, but not as good as decals would look. ill post some right side pictures as soon as i can find some. all of the pictures ive found so far have been off of imfdb.org

This and the picture that i already put on this thread are the only good pictures of the right side i can find. All of the pictures ive seen have angelina's hand on them, so there is no way to prevent that, but im pretty sure that the grips are the same on both sides.

yea i've seen that. I've also noticed that there were at least two pistols/grips made and used for the film. I've seen two grips that are noticeably different in regards to the scribing. Dunno if it was two guns or they slapped on different grips.

Just for reference, here are what the decals could look like on a 1911. It was a rush job and I liked the results. Going to be trying the technique out on a metal slide.

yeah, those decals look really good! i had not noticed that there were two different grips. and Birdie, those are the best pictures of the right side ive seen

Have you considered using an epoxy putty or even an air dry modeling clay to finish the finger groove so it blends into the frame better? How about the muzzle? Do you have a hole under the compensator? Milliput and products like it work great for contouring and filling in gaps and sculpting certain details. You could eve use it to put that little spur on the front of the trigger guard.

I may have to pick up another one of these and try this build. You've inspired me.

:cool

damn that sure is a pretty gun. A lot more ornate than I originally thought! One more other thing you might want to do is take off the "Colt 1911 Target" on the slide. It's raised lettering right? So it should just be a matter of sanding it off, at least that's how it was with my 1911.

+1 for spot putty, it's awesome stuff for when you want to smooth things out. You can easily find it at your local auto store or wal-mart. It air dries in about 30 minutes and extremely easy to work with. I think it'll really set your gun apart and take it to the next level. Just when you thought you were done with sanding eh? :lol

i had already hand-painted the left side over the "colt 1911 target" but now that you mention it i should probably sand down that part and then paint over it.......i will probably also try to make the knob on the handle smoother, but i made it with air dry modeling clay

edit: never mind, screw that. i already hand painted one side and will not repaint it again, so i am not going to sand off the colt 1911 target thing. I will still try to add the finishing details on the finger-guard and nub on handle though. still have to get that spot putty stuff. i might even add the sights.

Heres a picture of the side i had already painted. i thought it looked good considering that it is free-hand.

Right side painted! From now on, all i have to do is make the knob on the grip look smoother and make the front sight!
