ANH green belt lights found.

I don't see why the row and column count cannot be given out, but I do understand why the photos can't be shared.

This sounds like a convo with Durasteel Corp.... "It's close, but it's not right" Info like that is annoying and really no help at all. I usually hate to get involved in things like this but if all that can be said with any kind of supposed authority is something about how it isn't right, then keep it to yourself. Keep it ALL to yourself, please. It's a prop forum, not a guessing game.

Well often my hands are tied because I'm not at liberty to share every photo I am entrusted with. Which means I can't give out the row/column count...but I CAN mention that on yours it's not the right number and help out by getting an enlargement of an image I CAN share....like I said the one shown by Lambotour is close but I need to double check that...the fact I bring up the row/column count is not helping? I am trying to help...
[/b]

Thomas how about a blown up pic of just the green buttons, nothing else. It's been almost 30 years. Anyone that would object to you releasing something like a pic of lights seems ridiculous to me. I can understand, possibly, a pic of the whole entire box, but the lights? Honestly, what good is any kind of info if it's not shared, unless those lights fall under Homeland Security. :p I do understand since those pics don't rightfully belong to you why you are apprehensive, but maybe you could speak to that person and convince them otherwise. Here's hoping you will post those pics.

Look guys, I need to confirm the row/columns exactly but it's clearly not 5 on one side...more like 7...ok? And more like 9 on the other side. Let's work together to confirm that instead of browbeating me for acting like someone you have fond memories of....sheesh. And this "he's negating it while having no proof" accusation is just old. If I can't contribute something here, trust me, I prefer to stay quiet and not bother with some of you...

I don't see you contributing anything to this thread. So do I have a right to tell you to keep your comments to yourself?

Then don't tell me what I should keep to myself....PnatheraGem.

The thread started with a request for feedback. Go back and read the first post.

I acctualy don't think that you have any of the anserws you are saying you have, just alot of asumptions. Your are NOT contributing to this thread, just siring things up with your " I know, but I ain't telling" attitude.
Your star is fading rapidly SL. You aguments, for not shareing, are old.
Can't give out the excat number of rows, ans so on??? come'n give me a break.

I don't get it.

Why is this information so secret? I thought the entire point of have a prop community is just that, a community. A community learns by sharing.

Sure I can understand not revealing pics you promised not to, but I've seen this time and time again, especially when it comes to Vader, where people won't even give out a single measurement.

I have to agree with the sentiment above, why bother posting anything at all if you aren't actually going to share the information? All it smacks of is snobbery.

This could help.

Get your own proof then, know-it-all. Prove me wrong. Do your own research instead of complaining if someone says it's not right....expecting everything to be given to you on a silver patter. Do you know people that worked on ANH, ROTJ and ROTS? Go ask them then. Get your own production photos and show them here to everyone.

I've given you an indication regarding the number of rows and columns and you throw it my face. What is your problem? Here's an example of the Kermit suit....go find your own evidence.

I really don't expect anything, I have learned so much over the past years here, but when you say that you know, and don't want to tell us, well then you should have keept it to your self.
In regards to the numbers, you gave NOTHING so don't tell me that you did. Yet again you supply GRAINY pics of what YOU belive to be correct, and not facts.
I can understand your reaction SL. but the thing is, you NEVER have delivered anything, in regards to clear facts. What about the "lense thread" nothing there yet, or did you forget that?
As I said before, the respect that you had before, when I really belived that you will come throu for Vader fans, is fading rapidly.
If you can't put your "money" where your mouth is, well the just don't bother to answer to threads. I for one is beginning to seriously doubt your knowledge, beeing more than just the common knowledge.

The fact IS that I have come closer to the acctual lense than anyone before, and I think that is rubbing you against the hairs. DO I keep this to my self, NO I share, and don't pretend to be a mister "high and mighty"

That is damn decent of you Tom. RESPECT. :cheers
Now we can get somewhere.

I've seen this a lot on here regarding Vader. 'I know the ACTUAL measurements. But only I, and my friends get to know.'
'You're lieing.'
'Am not.'
'Are to.'
'Am not.'
etc etc

People found info, but are loathe to reveal it, as others will profit from it. I can understand it. I don't like it. But I understand it. I just wish people would be more open about what they know, and help others achieve thier Vaders. I just don't know why its ONLY Vader that seems to do this.

And... :( As for the two pics, the one posted by SithLord, and the one posted by Vadermania.. Are the same pic. Just one is enlarged.

And oh. Kudos for posting what you've found. Even if it isn't THE lights, they are indeed extremely close, and would look excellent on Vaders belt.

Well....with Tom's pic, which seems to be fairly clear...someone who is proficient at cleaning up and scaling/measuring could at least verify whether the ANH lights are square or rectangular. The lense pattern will be hard to definitively determine without clear pix....but at least we can verify square vs. rectangular.

Again, with Tom's pic....I'm starting to be convinced that they were in fact rectangular vs square...it's just too bad we can seem to get a clear close up pic...

Thomas....would we all agree that there are a different number of ridges on the top of the light vs. the side. That alone would confirm that the lights are rectangular and not square?

There is most definitely a different number of ridges........and they are definitely rectangular. But only ever so slightly. From different angles they appear square it's so slight. As some of you know, I did an ANH belt and ended up making replica lenses from another, not so accurate thus modified, green lamp. This one shows the most promise but it's probably not absolultely identical. From what I can tell the number of rows is off just a bit. Of course all we really have at this resolution is fuzzy photos. That's the nature of the beast when the only photos we have access to are so small. Still, even if this turns out to be "off" it's still the best commercially available (assuming they are available to us). It would definitely be a huge upgrade to the replica lenses I offered if they are similar in overall dimensions. :)

Well said, I have to agree, they are the best available. Dan's onto something here. I mean who is going to stand and count the number of rows and columns when you're wearing them ? (apart from a few diehards here. :lol )

Sorry if you think I am Mr. H & M...maybe you should get to know me better :angel ;) ... I showed from a photo accessible to everyone that the number of rows and columns were different on the original, and all I said at the beginning was that the number of rows and columns were different. I'm not sure which lense thread you mean. I've shown the lense color so many times here...maybe I missed it. :confused

Also, I recall stating more than once that your ANH Vader...the one you sold... was an inspiration...and I meant that.... :thumbsup

I apologize if they way I commented about your find was not acceptable...I know it's a drag not sharing info, but you know how that all came about....

And....in time...perhaps next year....I'll be able to come through for everyone here..... :)

i completely agree they are rectangular, not square...with a smaller number of columns (vertical) than rows...

These are by far the closest things I have seen available. Thanks for bringing them to the attention of our community.

That would make Dan's lights correct assuming they are to scale...

Right you are JP :p

In regards to all the PM's I have received over the past days, I'll get back to you all in the week end, so please be patient.

Dan

I don't mind comments, but all of this "I know and you can't have it" is what's rubbing me the wroong way.
NO I don't know how all that came about, and I don't see the relevance of that.

And....in time...perhaps next year....I'll be able to come through for everyone here..... :)

What is all that about????? Is it that year that all of these "national security things" become public???
Sorry, but that statement just sounds NUTS to me.

BTW thank you for the kind words, on my suit Thomas :)
