ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Very interesting, it's tough to tell what could have been glued on there..but it definitely looks possible something may have been on there at some point!

The toggle is indeed very close visibly, but it doesn't look to be the exact same part used. Any RPF members in CA reading this thread that have a really nice camera and want to see the antenna's real details up close? ;)

And thanks for all the help, Chris! Do you happen to know the real diameter of an imperial greeblie? I'm curious to see how close it is to the DL-44's mystery disk.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Well that was a dizzying amount of info! Finally made it through all 50 pages and congrats to all. Looks like I picked a good time to finally decide to add a DL-44 to my small collection?

Any updates on when you may begin actual production? I'm selling items to raise cash right now. :love

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Thanks! We're in the prototyping phase right now so it's tough to say at the moment when we will be beginning the actual sales.

It may be sooner, but possibly at the latest it might end up around the one year mark for this project sometime in June. Partly because certain parts may take a little longer to get the machining just right. :thumbsup

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Are you planning to also offer the bull barrel sized to fit a Denix?

Yes, we do plan to offer a Denix/MGC hybrid bull barrel as well. That barrel attaches in an accurate fashion, so filing and trimming to the Denix or MGC barrel will be needed to attach that particular barrel correctly. :thumbsup

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Here's a few photo's I ran across, a couple are just better versions of photos I already had and the others I haven't seen before.
Since the blaster is blurry in a couple photos, and at the resolution they're all at they aren't very much help unfortunately.
Mainly just interesting photos!

One of the Mount's shoulders may be visible in some of them if they were higher quality, so still a bit of a mystery there unfortunately.

This first image was very interesting, it shows the small bore hole inside the FH like the photo kurtyboy posted way back in this thread! :D

Nice pics! Is it me, or is the silver disk greeblie missing on the Death Star pics? Even in shadow, shouldn't we see it in there?

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

I think the pics are just dark. Not our fault... it was a dark time after all...

... see what I mean.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Have to go slightly OT - How Bad Ass is Harrison Ford!

There is no one in movies like this right now.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

I agree, it seems there's not many newer legendary actors around anymore. Or not many around now that seem able to match their epic predecessors for some reason.

If we're lucky, someday picking the best actors will probably end up being a reality based TV show of some sort..:rolleyes But if they were gonna do that they could have at least held off on using the name American Idol already. :lol

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Having read all 50 pages of this thread over a few days, I've become conditioned to think there were dozens of updates every day. Now seeing it in real time I'm getting too anxious. :cry

I know with all the variables, it's probably impossible to guess a price range for these parts, correct?

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

We hope to post some availability and cost - thoughts shortly. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we may have the bulk of the parts prototypes complete in a few weeks.

...cross yours too!

Mega tomorrow! ... but I think we will be ...affordable.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Brought this up in my own thread about Denix conversion, but this is THE thread and will get more traffic, so...

I'd like to get repro Mauser wood grips for my Denix that are the correct size and alter the Denix frame to match the grips. Mara Jade's Father kindly directed me to these repro grips.

C96 Broomhandle Mauser Bolo Plain Grip 20 Lines

Color looks good, but I questioned the accuracy. These grips have 20 engraved lines. The grips on the hero prop appear to have about 30 and my Denix has 30. These look more accurate for an extra $20, but the color looks too dark.

Grips, 1896, Walnut Military - w/o Red 9, Includes Escutcheons & Screw

I found yet another set which looks perfect, but WOAH, $110 + shipping if I purchase the hardware?

Gun Grip - MAUSER BROOMHANDLE

So, opinions on repro DL-44 grips? My current thinking would be to get the "too dark" set and see what they look like in person. The hero prop grips look lighter than these, but the pic on the website may not be accurate. And, if they are too dark, I could always bleach them a bit lighter and stain them.

I'd really like to hear thoughts on this. I know many of you have dealt with these issues already. What did you decide to do?
