Gino,

Why on Earth do you continue with this "You're all wrong, I know the answer but I wont tell you" nonsense?

With respect, if you think know the answer then make some contribution to this post, otherwise I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself. You did something similar to this on FISD and it really is becoming tiresome, since IMO its a process thats actually contrary to the point of having discussion forums.

Please accept this friendly advice as I believe you're in danger of undoing much of the great work you've done!

Cheers

Jez

Because I feel if I can't divulge everything about something, that some info is still better than nothing. When I post some sort of info, regardless of its "completeness" it is genuine and truthful.

Come on Gino that post on FISD about "why there's bumps on trooper caps" was an invite to see if anyone had the same info that you did. This looks to be very similar to me.

Posting "Thats not correct but I cant say more" isnt what I'd call "divulging" information

Its your call mate but like I said before IMO its counter-productive both to the hobby and you personally.

Cheers

Jez

Personally, I could care less.
It's not meant to offend, but you can't please everyone. If it points just one person in the right direction, it was worth it to me.

I already knew that nobody knew the answer to that question on FISD.
There was a trooper trivia thread going on, and I asked simply to show to the doe eyed members there that the resident "expert" didn't know as much as he would lead them to believe. Not for any other reason. It was directed at him, just unfortunate that others were caught in the crossfire.

So....you participated in a trivia thread where people were sharing info and challenging one another... by posting a question that you figured no one knew but were not planning to answer.

Wow. That's.....kindergarten.

And you say no one knew. You alone believe that. You don't realize this, but all these posts about how wrong others are add up to one thing:

You never SAY anything. Besides dissing everyone in every thread, you have contributed nothing. So in effect you have done, said, added, and contributed absolutely nothing to these discussions.

I agree, I don't know why you bother to post at all.

I lean to the "not a rail cap" side of this argument for a couple reasons, rail caps are even lengths on all sides (square), and it's my understanding that the chestbox is not (rectangle). Also the caps are simply rounded over (routed on the edges) and the sides are perpendicular to the face, the chestbox sides are cut at a slight angle then rounded over.

Now I'm not saying whether it is a found item or not but just not this item.

Just in case it got lost in the dust - lol.

The screen used boxes were all fiberglass, but I don't think it's beyond possibility that something like this was used as the original model (for molding).

Agreed. It would explain why the box itself is not a perfect square.

I buy the theory that it could be a molded post, 100% logical to me.

Would love to see this evidence that its not. What do you have Gino a model number thats readable in your casting? Unless you have something that clear how can you be sure?

Something like that.

Gino, you know I like you.

You know I believe you more often than not.

But dude...

Why do you do this to yourself?

You know whats going to happen.

Its like a broken record. :wacko

I suggest that in the future if you cant share your info, dont share that you have knowledge.

Whats the worst that can happen? Everyone gets further from what you know?

Just a suggestion.

Ok then.
Measure this.

Huh? Measure what?

This picture is about 7" tall. Is it scaled to actual height? Where were you going with this...

It isn't? A few threads back it was said that the ANH was 7" square and the others 6 7/8" square.

What I meant was that because it was made of fiberglass, distortion/damage could occur over time that would render it less than a perfect square as is evident in some of these castings compared to the original.

Now Gino, if I didn't know you better, I'd start to believe that you were trying to insinuate that the one and only original chestbox lives at your house......he he!!! If that were the case the color of your rocker switches would be quite different! Now if you have some actual evidence of what was or was not moulded to create that original fiberglass screen used chestbox casting, do indulge us. Otherwise, you're just wasting everyone's precious "proppin minutes". I've learned more about the original costume in the last 3 months than in all the years I've studied the ANH Vader costume. I could tell you about it, but then I'd have to kill ya..........LOL.

Seriously, the old bedtime story about the little boy who cried wolf!!! It's the same thing.......if you did happen up on the whole original costume........nobody would believe a word of it. They've heard this sort of bull@#%& for far too long. I'm not insinuating that you do or do not know something about the moulding of the original chestbox, because I neither know nor care one way or the other.........I'm just saying you are a broken record. You need to decide if you are gonna actually contribute to a discussion or just increase it's volume with filler. You know the old saying: " crap or get off the pot!!!"
