Batman Fan Film Discussion. Updated 3/24 W/ storyboard beginning

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

Very nice I dig the colonial jacket feel for the the torso do you have ideas of what fabrics you'd be using for the costume? Burlap,Leather...Ect ect...Would love to know more. Also great start to the art man!!!

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

The costume materials that I would like to use are as follows:

Hood and pants: Burlap covered cotton (or any other less irritating fabric to give the actor more stamina wearing it)

Jacket/Coat: Dark Leather (undecided) that's been weathered to look like it's been in the field all day.

Skirt, Leggings, Gloves: Random died fabric (probably cotton) large stitched in black thread.

Thanks! The Scarecrow has always been one of my favorite villains compared in any comic book genre. I do not have any more on his story finalized, but it's coming along well.

Update on batman's concept, it's going slow, I have one piece, but hesitant whether or not it's the direction I want to go.

Project Update. I've been busy at work with the 'page' I before said mentioned, it won't be on facebook (or at least what I'm working on won't), and I will post a link to where you all can find it.

P.S. I know how you feel Bloody Bones, at least you live in Colorado, all we have where I live is cornfields and small patches of woods :p

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

Alright, sorry for the double post, but the new offsite discussion/project site is up, crudely but it's up, I will be making changes, updates as I find more to add. You can find it at this link... don't know why it keeps reading beta life costuming, I changed the name, I guess it hasn't took it yet :/ : Beta Life Costuming - Where your Fantasy becomes Reality!

Feel free to check it out (registering wouldn't hurt either :p ).

Thanks for looking :)

Thanks Justover6! As a reward, you get a banana! :p Seriously thanks for the sign up :) Now, onto serious business, as much as it isn't secure, or anything I have decided to put up the plot pitches... enjoy and let me know what you think.

===========
EPISODE 1:
Blackest Knight

In a last ditch attempt to counter the batman, the Falcones join forces with Roman Sionis "The Black Mask" to take him out. The plan? Kidnap the mayor's daughter and hold her for ransom, 24 million by midnight. Either they'll get the bat, or they'll get the money. And the Batman is going to give them there share.

==============
EPISODE 2:
The Laughs on You!

The word on the street is there is a new criminal on the streets, one that may just leave Gotham dieing of laughter. The world's greatest detective is up for the challenge, but it's not only himself he has to worry about as Robin is kidnapped by "The Joker" and an uncovered plot of poisoning the entire water supply of Gotham is unveiled.

==========
EPISODE 3:
Disco in Wonderland

Young women, all blond, 5'3"-5'6", and slightly under the age of 18, have been turning up dead in the gutters, all of them killed by several stabs by a rough blade that appears to be shears. Batman must hurry as the body count continues to grow over night. His investigation leads him to a Psychedelic Club called "Wonderland", of which is ran by Jervis Tetch and his body guards, Tweedle Dee and Dum, the deaf Russian Twins. Without any legal grounds for Harvey Dent and Commissioner Gordon to obtain a search warrant they try another route, sending someone undercover, Barbara Gordon. But this "Alice" may suffer the same fate, as Barb becomes the obsession of Tetch, of whom doesn't let Alice wake up from Wonderland.

=============
EPISODE 4:
The Beast Within

The rumor of a monstrous alligator in the Gotham City Sewers has been old news. Old news until dismembered corpses begin surfacing all over town, all of the wounds it seems, have been made by teeth. With the apparent facts pointing towards an animal causing the problems, the victim's back stories however, point to a hired killer for the mob. It's time for the Batman to confront the Beast.

============
EPISODE 5:
Fear itself

Dozens of cases of schizophrenic and Panic disorder patients begin popping every night at midnight, all of the victims claim to have seen hallucinations of all kinds of things, bugs, their loved ones dieing in front of them, being killed, snakes, and many others, all being their worst fears. There is no connection. Except for one detail, each of the victims claim to have seen a scarecrow somewhere in the hallucinations, a scarecrow in pain, then their worst fear attacks them.
Batman stakes out the area where the patients seem to be found the most, Gotham Cometary, next to the old Crane Farm. What he finds, becomes more than a nightmare.

===========
EPISODE 6:
Two of a Kind

It's been one month since the Joker had been apprehended and sentenced to Arkahm Asylum, but even Arkham couldn't hold him. Taking several of the doctors hostage (one of which Harlene Quintzel, a promising psychiatrist) the Joker has held up in an abandoned building, threatening to kill all of the Doctors.
The Joker only has one demand for the doctor's. The Batman, no utility belt, no gadgets, just the batman. While batman tries to find a way to stop the prince of crime, Robin has other plans to save the doctors. Plans that involves a solo act.

=============
EPISODE 7:
Which one is on the Strings?

After Bruce's less than appreciative rescue from the Joker (Two of a Kind), Dick Grayson decides to leave the shadow of his mentor and strike out on his own. Distraught over the loss of his apprentice Bruce decides to go out on the town after strong urges by his butler and his friends. While at dinner with Barbara they are both drugged and taken to the Laboratory of Hugo Strange, and this time, Batman isn't the most skilled man in the in room.

=============
EPISODE 8:
The End, or is it?

Battered. Broken. Defeated. Words that describe the Dark Knight after the extremely close escape from Dr. Strange and the hired mercenary Bane. No friends, no one to turn to, Batman has no other choice than to face Bane as he threatens to tear Gotham apart after leaving Commissioner Gordon in the hospital, along with half of Gotham's finest after kicking in the door at police headquarters and ransacking it nearly unopposed.
Can the Dark Knight overcome Bane? Or will Bane break the Batman, once, and for all.

==========

After Notice:

Though I do not claim any of the rights of the original story or characters, I would like a little respect for these stories that I create (as in no copy and pasting them somewhere else and claiming them as your work, spread the word about it all you like, just be sure to give credit where credit is do.).

As for complete story overviews they are in the works, and they will be posted on the site for everyone to read as soon as I get them up. Also, sorry for any grammar problems, it was a quick write up.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds interesting! I'd like to see a fan film batman! As long as its not too cheezy like the Shumacher batman movie.

Thanks! I can assure you that it won't be. The closest it could be compared to any of the films would be any of the dark knight trilogy. This won't be set in the same world as Nolan's, but it will be very realistic.

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

i stumbled upon this article, might be an interesting read:
http://www.therpf.com/f24/batman-live-action-fan-series-any-interest-172935/index3.html
and a link for the kickstarter
The Batman Chronicles - Web Series | Indiegogo

anyway, I like the episode descriptions, they sound really ambitious, however this also might be a problem. You plan to introduce a lot of characters and some of them (for example Killer Croc) might prove to be really hard to portrait. Also having lots of character will put a strain on your budget.

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

by the complete overview of those episodes, i can tell you you will roughly need 50.000 bucks to get a decent product.

i can do cutting, editing, vfx, sfx, 'splosions and stuff, if you need help.

Well I guess these things are obsolete someone could have made them 10x better anyway. Plus you'd probably get hit with some copyright violations or something. These are google images, you never know.

With Killer Croc and Bane you could use the same guy, and there costumes could really be cheap if you budget them. The real stiffy is the sewer scene. Everyone else are Suits and White Coats. I think you could easily find a purple suit in a thrift store lol

The Black Mask
The Joker
Mad Hatter
Scarecrow
Dr. Hugo

Episode 1 Blackest Knight = Will attract a lot of Green Lantern Fans XD

mmmm $50,000 sounds steep.

Hm, I'm very glad you pointed it out. I guess a great idea is bound be tried by many people :) I hope them all of the best luck with their endeavor, but I don't think that it's going to affect the story or rights to a series, one, because it's not for profit, and two, the stories are really different. They do have a more experienced cast and crew though (I'll give them that).

As far as costumes goes, I don't think they will cost more than the money to produce the film (as far as percentage goes).
To specifically answer the problem with killer Croc, I have an answer, for Croc's design (wish I had the design illustration to better to show what I am saying), Croc will not be wearing a full body suit, but will have the need to sculpt/cast several latex pieces as well as wear a bald cap. He will also be wearing a lot of body paint. He is the next character that I will be sketching to better clarify my vision, but don't worry, the croc is taken care of ;)

And yes, Pre Production is going to take a LOT of man hours to get all props ready for the season, but there will only be a few costumes/characters that will be very difficult, but the new designs will let us avoid the age old problems that have plagued cosplayers for years.

It sounds like a resume submission, you are on now on the list of people to contact when/if we get rolling into production (maybe sooner for a teaser), I will be sending you a pm with what would be required for this to happen, as editing is one of the most crucial parts of the process.

As far as budget, yes, it will be high, how much I'm not sure (next on the list after concept art and screenwriting is going to be budget estimation). Will it be $50.000? To be honest, I won't know until I get the figures in, but hopefully not, every dollar I'd have to ask is another chance of not getting funded :confused

thats a lot of people, not counting anyone who is just in the BG. even IF you can find all those people for free, you still will at least have to feed them. labcoats and suits need to come from somewhere.

cheap costumes usually look like cheap costumes on camera, unless you are very skilled. according to the outlines, there seems to be a lot of fighting involved. this is not easy to film, as everything needs to be coreographed.
you would do good to hire someone who has some martial arts experience, otherwise it will just look weird.

i also worked on a spiderman webseries and made a first draft for an intro, but the series production is stopped for now so i didnt continue to work on it

I like the setup of the first pic, I doubt it would be best to use copyrighted images like you mentioned :p but I think sketches/costumes from the series would be a good substitute.

As far as costumes go, I'll got into description on how the costumes will be constructed.

50,000? Like my last post, I can't say for certain yet how much the budget will be, but let's hope it's not that much :love

just to give you an idea.

Indeed, it will require a lot of people (why I was asking everyone's interest so repeatedly) I'm sure it will be necessary for a fight choreographer as there will be a lot (not ever minute of every episode, but definitely enough to warrant bringing in someone who knows what they are doing).

The spiderman intro looks very good for an intro scene :) I've sent you a pm with some of the requirements that I'm looking for in a video editor, I will have more later, but I'm running out of time tonight, so they'll be later when I get around to them.

Most if not all of the costumes, due to design, will need to be fabricated for production, except maybe parts that can be changed/swapped out and props (like batarangs, guns, and normal clothes/badges), but they will be made to look the part of the characters, and not seem to be 'made for show', weather or not the materials will be cheap or not.

And that's not all of the costs to producing this, as it will need to be filmed in a rapid process (every day, for what looks like to be a month or two) will also need to provide boarding for some of the crew/cast (which may be able to suffice with just bunking in someone's guest bedroom)) as well as permits and insurance. Lot's of things to go over.

Glad to see more questions arise, I was worried for a moment that people had forgotten this thread for a bit. I'll answer any more questions when I can. But ask away and I'll get around to them when I can.

Your concept mask for Scarecrow is scary as hell man. That's not even funny. I would poop my pants if that came to my front door!:lol

Re: Batman Live Action Fan Series. Any interest?

I'm really glad you're taking this seriously and planning a lot. Most of these posts/ideas fizzle out in a week but this one hasn't and thats great!

EOS that is a pretty cool intro!

actually its pretty crude as the motion is not smooth and lots of other problems, but it was the first draft, and the project is on ice, so i never finished it ;)

I took the draft into consideration, looking at the potential of the finished product.

oh well then, thanks ;) i dont get to do stuff like this enough anyway :D
