My question was about the belt on the pants to be specific, also is it odd that I prefer the tunic when its worn out with the large ceremonial belt rather than tucked in.

Everyone has a preference on how to wear the uniform. Common sense the so called dress uniform look was thought of due production cost. One can speculate on the production budget may have been maxed out. Thus no budget to purchase a different type of fabric or color to in making a dress uniform.

The holsters were not blue but a steel grey which some think is faded blue

I found a shot from Galactica 1980 where the belt actually looks grey.

Something I noticed when I was looking at images of the costumes, on one of Boomer's tunics there seems to be an attachment at the bottom presumably to prevent it from riding up and looking scruffy.

If I recall correctly we tried using the white parade belts and the RIT Pearl Gray and Medium Blue to try and get the color?

New one on me; Maybe to keep teh tunic pulled down and not slide up over the gunblet during action scenes?

That would be used on a Stuntmans tunic although some Actors may have had that on theirs depending on preferance

I've found the following belts online and I think if they could be dyed the appropriate colours then they could make excellent belts:

The first from Epic Militaria on Amazon could be great for the gun belt.

I've seen on the show that gun belts tend to have either brass or silver metal parts, the only belts I've seen that could serve as an accurate base have brass parts such as the one in the link above, I think the belts with silver metal are the 0D7 green variation from the late 40s, also I believe based on studying screenshots that the middle grommets are smaller than the ones above and below like on the belt above.

I've been looking at the jacket, is the material of the main part of the jacket suede? because the material I've seen on close up pictures of the material looks a bit different.
