Battlestar galactica 'the plan' <--anyone see this yet?

I saw the panel with Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz at Dragon Con this year. They both said neither one was even told anything about a new A-Team movie being made. They found out when the rest of us did, and neither were approached for anything about it.

I want to see post Caprica, pre Galactica. I want to see the Colonial Wars - the birth of the battlestars & vipers, & maybe even the first Cylon revolt

btw did anyone catch the newly cut in scene from The Plan, with Baltar talking with Six in Caprica City, where there are a couple of kids running by in the foreground with classic Cylon masks on, with swords?

You mean pre-caprica, then. Battlestars and vipers and such exist in the timeframe of the new series and it's going to take us into the Colonial/first Cylon War...

As crazy as it sounds, many people want to see a lot of the events on Kobol, before the Exodus.

I enjoyed it. Didn't really add a whole lot... didn't really explain much... I liked how they tried to fill in some blanks, but not sure if those blanks really needed filling in. But, was fun filler.

I am amazed that some folks... despite seeing a thread title still come to threads like this simply to piss on others peoples parades.

God and religon was set up as a part of the plot from day one. Part of the reason I didn't care for the show initially... but to me, it worked.

...and Starbuck disappeared. I thought it was the perfect ending for her character. Simply perfect.

I watched it last night -

I admit to being really touched by the series end - for all the loose threads the landing on Nu-Earth amongst primative tribes and everybody going they're seperate ways and the death of McDonnell was perfect - even the Matrix-style tacked on ending was palatable -

But this -
This was indulgent, superflous and just plain nasty in some places. Even as a huge fan of all the seasons and its arc this was just plain rubbish.

And Cavill's dispensing of the kid was ridiculous too. We get it. He's evil.

Time to wind it up.

I loved the series. I even loved how it ended. But I just couldn't get into this movie. I kept looking at the clock waiting for it to end or waiting for something to happen. It answered a few questions, but probably left a lot more unanswered.

Ending the movie at the end of Season two could leave it open for another movie from the Cylon point of view, but I don't know if I'd be interested in it.

Let me guess, it ends with the Cylons arriving at New Caprica, right? (I haven't seen it yet) If it ends at New Caprica, then there's no need for a sequel from the Cylon POV, as at the end of Season 2 and the start of Season 3, the series began to get more into the Cylon side of things.

Actually, I may have been mistaken. The whole series is kinda clumped in my head as one long season :lol.

If you really want to know, it starts and ends with the Cavills being sucked out into space. I just thought it was the 2nd season.

Yeah, that event is in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 2", the second episode of the two parter that came after "Downloaded" (the first episode were we got a POV from the Cylons for the first time). The spacing of the Cavils comes before the election, where Baltar wins the vote and the humans move down to New Caprica (prior to the one year jump forward in the narrative) and the Cylons turn up yet again.

Didn't really add to anything. Stockwell had a cold while shooting this I think. Effects were ok....
What happened to the "slutty" 6?

I was a huge fan of the show when I finally got around to watching it, even with the sort of dangerous way that they wrote it, I thought Mr. Moore and crew delivered an incredible experience.

"The Plan" was interesting, but I think it was un-necessary, if you watch the extras on the disk, I think it's the actress that plays Boomer that sums it up, in no uncertain terms:

Spoiler.....

"The plan was to kill all humans, if you thought there was anything else, you were just deluding yourself.", period. OK thanks for that.

The movie fleshed out some characters a little, it was kinda neat to see some backstory on Anders and the resistance group. It was nice to see effects shots of the other colonies, which I assume have been culled from upcoming Caprica materials. The actual attack on earth was cool to watch for the effects shots and the Basestars. I guess the way Boomer acted through the show makes a little more sense, although now I am curious about the significance of the elephant? weird....

As far as future Galactica movies, given that they are making the Caprical Prequel, and a great deal of the show is green-screen anyhow, I don't think they will have any trouble coming up with the effects they need to do so. I hope they can come up with some compelling stories though, because the framework that they had to work with for "The Plan" didn't really allow them to innovate much, or really do much with the characters other than explain their prior actions a little.

Well, I still haven't seen "The Plan" yet, but I do know that Boomer had a wooden elephant decoration in her apartment in the Season 2 episode of "Downloaded", which was supposively given to her by her parents as a gift.

Of course, there's many symbolism with elephants. The first one I can think of is the most common one, which is actually a saying: "Ignoring the elephant in the room."

Watched this tonight, as has been pointed out I thought it was kind of pointless.

It really bothered me when Cavil killed the kid, I thought it was terrible.

It was supposed to bother us. Cavil killing John was symbolic as much as a literal act of violence. John came to represent Cavil's humanity to him (Ellen DID name Cavil 'John', after her father) and by murdering John, Cavil was freeing himself to continue doing what he needed to do to avenge the 'wrongs' done by his parents, the Final Five.

I've finally gotten a chance to watch it all the way through on DVD. I must say, I actually like it. Did it answer a lot of questions? Not really. Honestly, I have to commend Edward James Olmos as a director for this, because the story doesn't feel at all out of place continuity wise and seems like the new scenes were filmed during the actual production of the show instead of at the very end of the series run. The only thing I had a problem with was the repeating of the scene from "Lay Down Your Burdens" and how Roslin was absent from that scene (and how she appears briefly, only seeing her legs) in the scene following that.

On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being "Captain Awesome's approval of awesomeness", I would have to give it a 4.

As crazy as it sounds, after seeing it, I've toyed around with doing a fan edit of the whole series into a "movie" focusing on Boomer from the start of her "life" to the end, which would include some deleted scenes. But I don't know if I'd actually do it.

And the thing that makes me sad is that both Cavils were machines, but Caprica Cavil knew "much more" (to use Cavil's words from "No Exit", which are repeated in the end of the movie) than his brother, Galactica Cavil. It's a shame that his experiences had been boxed. The Model Ones would have learned so much more and finally accept what they were.

Sadly, that was the best part of this movie.

I have heard that priests like to poke kids, but this was a new twist on it. LOL.

Half the stuff I heard was in this, wasn't? Did Sy Fy cut a lot out?
