Best paper type for printing PROP money?

Any suggestions for the best paper types for printing prop money? What has the most realistic texture to it?

You can buy fancy stationary / résumé paper that has a percentage of cotton fibers in it. I've used that on a few bills I've printed out myself. Frankly the difference isn't huge, at least not to me.

Otherwise, there are other papers that have an off-white color, or subtle colored fibers in them. It depends on the note you're trying to replicate.

I have a few prop bills (Now You See Me, Elysium) that are just printed on apparently plain white paper. Texture, weight and feel would be irrelevant on screen, so I presume they're simply printed as cheaply as possible, depending on the quantities required.

For a presentation of close-up banknotes, I use a textured white high quality paper called in France "Saint Louis". This is 90gr. and for stacks, normal white paper aged with coffee solution.

Earl Hays Press used Strathmore Writing 25% cotton stationery paper for all of their prop money,
and their stuff has been used in countless TV episodes and movies over the last 100 years.

I've had the best results with Conquerer and Rymans parchment type paper, those are UK paper products but I think they ship it overseas or there will be a local equivalent. It's not an exact match for banknote paper, but it does crumple and fold and stress very nicely and has a nice used note feel in the hand. Just my 2¢ :D

This kinda thing

Or this from Amazon.com which would do the trick with a light infusion of Lipton's famous banknote distresser liquid . . .

Somehow I've overlooked all the updates in this thread! Sorry guys...

And thank you very much for the interesting ideas... I'll look into some of those parchment or cotton type papers :thumbsup

As noted.. 100% cotton fiber resume paper is what I have used in the past.

Close your eyes and you cant feel the difference..

if you need/want 'beat-up' money..

put a bunch in a pillow case with some poker chips... throw it in the dryer for a while. will get a nice 'used' look to it.

Just plain old #7 Bond. It has a tooth to the paper and has no watermark. In Canada we use plastic money now. Bit difficult to duplicate our money between the plastic and holograms.
