Bilbo's sword Sting replica. Which is best?

Can you all chime in as to which replica of Biblo's sword you think is the best - United Cutlery or Noble? From what I've seen the UC swords look like they have some pitting issues, but the handle is wood (which I like). Are all the UC Sting's plagued with the pitting problem, or is it just the luck of the draw? The Noble sword has no pitting but has a metal handle, which I don't like; it also lacks a scabbard.

Thanks!

I would definitely go with the UC version

Thanks. Right now, I'm leaning that way. It looks like the pitting I mentioned is actually part of the sword. It shows up in the promo pics, so I guess it's intentional. I also like that it has a scabbard.

Yes its intentional, but I'd go for the LOTR version of Sting. It has the inscription on the blade that is put on after the events from the Hobbit, but before Frodo receives it in LOTR.

Are you sure you're not looking at the museum collection version of Sting which has artificial pitting? I think the museum collection version is the one that is more easily available now than the normal version. I owned a museum version and own a few other UC LOTR blades. On the others I see no pitting of any kind and I've kept them in their scabbard for years.

The new Hobbit version of Sting has the added pitting your referring to. The MC LOTR Sting has it as well.

The LOTR sword is more visually appealing, but I'm after a sword one that is closest to the book, which, of course, makes no mention of the inscription.

Which book. LOTR or the Hobbit? I know the Hobbit doesn't mention it, but I'm pretty sure LOTR does. I'll have to look it up though.

Doh, meant the Hobbit. It's been soooo long since I read Rings. If you find it let me know. Maybe I'll have to get both versions of the sword, lol

Thanks!
