Blade Runner: Captain Bryant's Dual Watch

Right then gentlefolk of the RPF! Perhaps one of the most replicated movies on here is Blade Runner which is understandable given how large of an impact that film has had on many people. There are some absolutely breathtaking replicas and a large variety of odd and beautiful props that have been replicated ( I'm talking Bush's beautiful Buddha heads.Take that back. ALL of his collection!) but some of these props had barely any screen time. What I am attempting to replicate is onesuch prop. Captain Bryant's Dual Watch.

This one prop spoke out to me more then most and so I have decided to replicate it as a start to my Blade Runner collection. It embodies a lot of what I love about the production design and I cannot wait to begin. I currently just have the screengrabs from http://props.steinschneider.com/index.html and these are of poor quality. I intend to rent the bluray and have my brother take some (hopefully) higher quality screengrabs from that but until then I am going to begin with very rough likeness made out of these cheapo Timex watches.

My intention with this first "prototype likeness" will be to better understand the connection between the two watch bands and just to kick it off. I will hopefully be hunting down the actual watches and making an exact replica as my research continues but any help would be much appreciated! If there is anyone who has done this before that I have not been able to find or any higher quality screengrabs already out there I would be greatly indebted to you. Thank you!

The design appears to be quite simple. Two gold digital watches connected with a very short band. Possibly one watch face is red one is blue/green? I cannot tell if it is just the lighting or not so your opinion would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again.

An interesting point of visual interconnection between two films directed by Ridley Scott is this watch and the one worn by both Dallas and Ripley in ALIEN.

The BR watch faces appear to be connected by a hinge between them. The flight officer watch faces from ALIEN appear to share a common mount. Both would certainly make for a wonderful addition to any Sci-Fi collection.

Indeed! I was rewatching Aliens tonight with my girlfriend (She had never seen it which is practically criminal) and she pointed that out as well! Lots more research has been done on that one so I will be basing my hinge off of their research I am thinking!

Current thinking among the BR community says that Bryant's watch was two 1970's Hamilton LED watches with a custom link. I fancied making one of these myself but damn(!) they are expensive!

Thank you! Gives me a place to start! I understand what you mean about them being expensive... ahh well! There are quite a few local resources for 70s/80s era watches locally that I will begin hunting for either that or something extremely close. Not opposed to modifying one to be accurate but I want to be 80% there already. Any chance you know the exact model of Hamilton watch? Thank again mate!

Indeed there are but I wanted to get my hands on something quickly while I hunted for a more accurate manner. Since the Hamiltons are so expensive anyway I will be pursuing a different method. Thank you for those two links! The second one resembles the Kojak one more but I shall keep the ebay and antique store hunt. Also thank you for commenting! Your collection is something to aspire to! Now that I have a 3D printer I have begun bulking out my BR prop projects from more then this and paper props!

I don't have a model number to hand. Not sure if I ever had one but can't check as my BR files are on my work computer for some reason and I'm on hols on my phone at the moment. They were commonly referred to as the Kojak watch because Telly Savalas wore one in the 1970's cop show. Do an eBay search for Hamilton Kojak LED watch and you will find one or two. Usually priced at 3-400 each.

Also; join propsummit.com. It's the definitive resource for Blade Runner prop info.

Thank you again! I have found a few and a few clones that might be promising for a mockup.

Hi!!!
Cool idea!!!!!
I have a blue ray rip, so here's two screengrabs with slightly better resolution.
both watch faces seem red to me!

Also, what looks like a hinge on the left picture is probably just a reflection. On the right picture you can see there is no space between watches.
