Blakes 7 Mini Orac

Just finished a scratchbuild of the Orac prop from the Blake's 7 episode 'Gambit'. The super computer shrinks itself so that Avon and Vila can smuggle it into a casino!

The model is made from 6mm perspex (an offcut from my full size Orac). The carry case is made from plywood clad in plasticard and contains a circuit board to reproduce Orac's background sound and power his lights.

Orac was Always a favorite character along with Villa..
The Laurel and Hardy of Blake 7

That looks Brilliant!

Thanks. Cutting the perspex was the hardest part of making this. It is the 6mm stuff, as is the big Orac. Same is true of the original mini Orac prop, quite what that says about his shrinking process, I don't know!

I would like one of these but I do not have the skills to make it unfortunately. Does anyone know of a firm that could make one - I know the people who used to make them has stopped doing them now?

I've always dreamed of building one. The interior seems doable, collecting the clear/colored plastic disks, tubes, lights etc just taking time.

However, the bolted together perspex box with cut outs is the starting point, I'd purchase that easily and slowly do the interior myself.

Most of the tubes I already had, some were bits of pen. I only used clear ones and painted them with clear colours. The central sphere came from a roll on deodorant. I used leds but placed them next to (non working) bulbs as the original had bulbs. This was quite a cheap model.
