BTTF Remote Control

The metal bracket is just a bent piece of aluminum notched out to fit around the bar on the top of the remote.

Yes, the Molex Stop light (button) is rare.

Molex STOP switch is very rare, but those Molex brand switches are relatively common at surplus locations. You just have to figure a way to swap the top out like Gary did.

You have almost zero chance of finding the segment displays anywhere, ever.

Can one of you guys post links to the found parts?

You bet!

Rear Grey Box:
The grey enclosure is a Unibox 140.

9V Battery Clip:
The cheapo battery clips at Radioshack are wrong, this is the correct one:

Knob in center of Grey Box:
The knob is a lot smaller then it looks.

Hope that helps. :)

Looks like we can now see the labels which read

Left Side

RESET

HOLD

Sorry for crappy pic can't seem to get blue ray grab but it's pretty clear even in this pic.

Hi, the site where I found the futaba for sale is the flying giants forum. Gave the link to jedifye hoping we could arrange something but he hasn't gotten back to me so I don't how he got on. Anyways Brad if you read this let me know how you got on. And for everyone else good luck finding all the bits required.....

A gentleman on eBay has replicas of this with some pictures that may be of reference. The ones he makes are spot on too. He does many bttf props, not sure if he is a member here.

If you are referring to bfcoulombe, (and I think you are) Yes, I am a member here. I just haven't had much spare time to come and check out the forum.

Thank you for the nice compliment!

Thank you for the nice compliment!

Just for the record. My reproductions are are not quit "spot - on".
I use a different enclosure & my LED segment displays are gray not black. As soon as I deplete my inventory of these slightly larger and green painted enclosures. I will be going to the correct grey enclosure. For now I give my customers their choice of enclosure. Surprisingly now many prefer the green enclosure. But, I am still very happy that you like my work. Thank you again, Propulse

Hey Bruce,
Do you offer a kit version? I have the remote, just not the other "stuff"

Good lord, it's like I'm looking at DMCtalk.com with all the bantering in this thread :rolleyes

Hey guys, I'm a new member here. I've been building my remote for last couple weeks and this thread has been a lifesaver! Thanks so much for help. If anyone on here has got a lens for my molex switch that I could buy that would be great, but I don't think I'm supposed to buy anything until I post some more. What I'm doing is building a functional remote for the remote control delorean that I'm also building. Lots of work to be done but I've already made some good headway. Is anyone else doing this?

I'm looking into having a remote to. Just a replica, not functional. I'm considering buying one from Coulomb, but it's not completely like I'd want it. As he mentioned himself in this thread, it's not 100% spot on. But it's very, very close.

I thought I had a correct green label Futaba transmitter in the attick, but I don't find it anymore :(. Probably didn't come along when we moved. I can hit myself for loosing this transmitter!

If Gary would make a kit available, I'd choose that one and find me another Futaba remote myself, I think. But I don't know if that's gonna happen. Gary, do you have plans on doing a run for a kit for transforming a Futaba remote into a BTTF remote (maybe including the green PCM label for those who have a red Futaba)?

this was my effort: made 2 months ago - may 2011, i took ot with me to comic con to have chris lloyd sign it - but it was an epic fail :(

for the molex i used styrene and made a frame, then attached it to a pc plug (maplins) got a bit of acrylic, painted one edge translucent red, and put 5 leds behind it. i do now have the stop text on it.

the 3 digits were made from seven seg displays, once again i made a styrene frame.

box, knobs, dial and switches all came from maplins for peanuts,

the only reference pics i had came from the blue ray disc.

my build pics are here:
