yeah its my first clay sculpt and im lovin it so far, definitly will continue on with that process.
just hands , and neck left to construct then off to skin , and paint.

no its smooth-on expanding foam, thr body is ordinary cushion foam

Is the foam you cast in have a lot of holes in it?

I used Foam-it X and it had a super short pot life, and had lots of pin holes in it. Tough durable stuff, but the holes are a give away that it is foam.

Did your foam cast smooth? How long was the pot life? What kid of smooth-on foam was it?

the holes are proberly caused by back pressure...where you can drill small holes for preasure release , it works.
i retained all the detail beacause the overall shape isnt too complex. vent holes work , releases gas that can cause the pin holes and warping with expanding foam...
i read your comment on another thread about sanding foam...? id appreciate your thoughts on that..dragon skin matallic sanding sheets..? never heard of them where did you get them

If you use it with a heavy hand it has the potential to rip the foam. I noticed if I put too much pressure while using I small chunks of foam would catch and get pulled out. Those are the only negative comments I have for it.

Make another (Maybe a venom?) and keep that! Spectacular work, can't wait to see it all skinned and latexed and colored.

I remember last year when M16 made an impressive Venom using similar techniques on a really speedy/reduced timeframe, but yea, this is on a whole nother level of intricacy and detail. Loving it!

update

the neck is complete and hands started. will be done tomorrow and do full costume motion test.
then finially its skin and paint...on track for the weekend reveal....
