I plan to make a full body suit then display him when not in use.

Thank you very much. Personally, I prefer to trim with thinning sheers instead of scissors. Scissors leave a blunt cut as opposed to the partial or blending cut you get with thinning sheers. Thinning the hair, in certain areas, primarily where it appears bulky, makes it easier to style, without the use of a hair spray and you can eventually see the cut you are attempting to achieve gradually instead of an overbearing cut.

“Got 2 b Glued” hair blast freeze hairspray is, in my opinion, is excellent at keeping hair in place. Extremely adhesive, especially when using a blow dryer (warm and low air setting) and only for a short time. You’ll feel the spray working quickly and it will hold solidly. To hot and long, in one spot will damage the hair so slow and easy.

Lastly, Josh Beckett, a seasoned artisan, who has been making Wookie masks for several years now, has a series of Wookie build videos on You Tube. Search his name and you’ll find them. You will learn SO MUCH and be grateful you watched them all the way through. So much knowledge to receive from them.

As far as the style, in general, tons of photo references. You can gage where you need to start thinning based on the Wookie you are creating ie IV, V, VI, and so on. All have variations of style. TAKE YOUR TIME thinning. A little at a time and don’t panic if you make a few minor mistakes. Chewie is scruffy. His hair is not neat nor perfect. Be free. Scrunch and even curl the hair, using a curling iron, again on a warm setting and very short time as not to cause hair damage. Mess it up a bit, massage it. Break the hair in. Make it scruffy. MAKE IT YOURS because you are the one your Wookie belongs to. If your happy, that’s all that matters.

Added acrylic eyes and latex lids. Pinned into hollow eye sockets. Easily removable for cosplay. Wanted to give Chewie some life while on display.
