Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

The different size of Anovos and EFX is not really a surprise.Anovos helmets are costumehelmets and not really screenaccurate replicas.
Thats why they scan the props...with a scan you can add some extra space very easy that the helmets also fits bigger heads.
I think both are looking nice...but from the replicaside the EFX is the way to go.
The EFX helmets on minutefetts pics are looking very good in my eyes.
Cannot wait for mine.Hope if the weathering is too much on some areas I can remove it with alcohol like I did with the back of the Boba PCR bucket from EFX. ;)
efx does make changes to allow for mass manufacturing. Even on expensive items like the fiberglass Vader helmets. They aren't always going for ultimate screen accuracy either.

I could understand Anovos making the diameter of the Mando helmet larger if the original is too tight for many people. We don't actually know which size is more accurate.

The differences in the visor taper and ears are harder to explain. I'm not sure which is more accurate for those features.

The goldish color on the efx ears and back doesn't look right to me.

Unfortunately they both may have advantages in some areas but not others. I don't think either is completely accurate.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the size. The EFX would likely be the more accurately sized one for that reason. That said, I'd like to see more measurements of the EFX one or how it fits on different people when more people receive it.

Does anyone know for a fact there isn’t a double visor? I mean I know it’s a purple/blue color but how do we know? Is there reference I just haven’t seen yet?
I think it should just be one. On most Anovos helmets their visors are too clear and I've added mesh behind them on mine. With this helmet it still looks more clear than the EFX even with the second visor. Another concern I have is the space it occupies. On Boba Fett helmets my nose is smushed against the visor, so I'd rather have the extra few millimeters without it.

I think its not really a goldish color...its the brown/green weathering on a more stainless steel painted ears.Thats always the problem with weathered replicas...one painter puts more weathering on the prop...another not.

I think it will be different from helmet to helmet.I´ve seen Anovos helmets that looked like a kid has glued tons of coffee powder on the helmet.Others are nice.

It could just be weathering. I haven't seen any photos of the screen used helmets that look that way. It is more noticable on the back.

We will see if the efx helmets have more consistent weathering than Anovos.

One thing that really stands out to me is that edge along the bottom half of the ear. Maybe it's the way it's painted but it looks way too rounded to me.

On the Anovos the stripe is painted...on the EFX not.On the real helmet it looks like they used tape to cover this area before they added the weathering.

The flat parts of the ears look fairly clean on the real helmet. The angled parts on the bottom look fairly close to the majority of the helmet. The entire bottom portion of the efx version stands out as a different color than the majority of the helmet. Not sure if that is just how it is weathered or an issue with the color of the ears being too different.

I think we should collect all pics of screensused helmets we can find to find out whats correct and whats not.

I think the best explanation for how different the color is on the ears and rear vents, as well as the weathering, is that it's particular to the helmet EFX based theirs off. With how difficult the Mandalorian's helmet is to light, I'm sure there are several completely differently painted helmets depending on how the scene needs to be lit. It's more than a matter of it being a hero or stunt helmet. So I would give EFX the benefit of the doubt and say that they tried to match the helmet they handled. But when referencing the D23 helmet and most screenshots from the show, the finish of the Anovos looks a lot closer to what I think it should look like.

Unless we see one that actually looks like that on screen, it isn't screen accurate.

On FB, one of the cargo hold members posted a comparison of the efx (left) and anovos, and the efx has a better taper than the anovos, and it matches the taper on the version shown in EW. So it seems like the visor taper on the efx (as well as the anovos) may vary from helmet to helmet. Also note that the taper of the visor varies between helmets used on the show.

In addition, I noticed that the efx visor ends almost flush with mandibles (which is accurate with the screen used version), while the anovos visor ends 1-2 cm too short of the mandibles/tusks, which I haven’t seen on any screen used versions.

It's not supposed to be flushed. It should be a couple of millimeters short, but the Anovos one is definitely a little too high.

The visor remains the only strong positive of the EFX for me.

The visor on my Anovos Mando helmet goes down to about 1/4 inch from the lowest point of the helmet. That looks pretty close to correct.

This may be another area of inconsistency from helmet to helmet.
