Clone Trooper Helms - to buy MR or not?

Pics of a JM3 - spray painted over a weekend.

Yes, each helmet has its pluses and minuses. Personally, the JM is too large for my 5'8 frame. I got my MR before the OSCS came out, but if I had to make a decision between MR/OSCS i'd still go with MR as I am not a fan of the removable faceplate or the narrow mohawk. The neckring is cool, but a detail I can live without.

i bought a MR for display...but it did fit on my head (6'1", 190)

i also bought a JM3 to paint up...its very nice

i know the MR buckets get a bad rap (rightfully so) but the one i bought is free of problems so i lucked out...and it will look great on display...the inside has a great finish but i can see how it would be a real PITA to troop in

it seems like the MR, JM3 and OSCS can all be had for about $250....the advantage to the MR is that it is finished...my problem is that i always guy these cool prop helmets and never finish them... :confused

when you factor in the cost to have someone paint it, the fan helmets get pricey pretty quickly (unless you're a painter)

Thanks for all the input. It's great to see and hear about all the helmet options out there. Does anyone have access to all of the available helmets? It would be great to see a side by side comparison.

Hasn't anyone used automotive vinyl decals to customize their Ep3 helmets, instead of paint?
I would like to know if anyone has tried it and what experiences they have had.

A friend got the JM3, and it wa a ton of work just to get it looking good. It came with some finger divits where it was slushed without a master boot. The MR is a great size, but the added foam would make it very hot to troop with. There are other buckets out there; the clone boards you seek.

For starters, "EDIT". Secondly, my friend is one of the best prop builders I know. And lastly, i have a right to my opinion and I would hope you would respect that.

I am an elitist in three areas, my God, my family and the United States Marine Corps. Other than that this is just a hobby.

I am respectfully asking you to drop it and move on.

I personaly use a modified and repainted MR but I have painted a JM3 for a friend. I found the JM to be no harder to paint than any othe prop. As for the OSCS I havent gotten my hands on one of thoes badboys yet. I dont think that you can go wrong with either of the three.

Whoa whoa whoa.

What's going on here? Guys please, enough.

To each, his own. Really.

Business? That's about the only dangerous word I see here and I am so far from that it's not even funny.

I agree and I am sorry. The business comment was not fair and I retract that statement. As for the bucket comment, I have communicated with JM and he has informed me of the improvements he has made since that time.

Jm, thank you for your understanding.

Here is my white MR helmet after being repainted in the 501st paint scheme. :D

The foam was entirely gutted out.

The visor and aerators were replaced (Not done at the time the pic was taken).

JM, MR or OSCS.... they are all great helmets and I would recommend them all. :thumbsup

What weathering kit did you use?

I dig the rust.
