I’m attempting to convert a standard 5.5” NSD gold Dalek into the Rusty Dalek as seen with the twelfth Dr
Story starts …. I will keep it brief….
My nephew is a Dalek nut

He probably has all but one on display (Rusty )
I made him one that wasn’t available ( the tall black and white one ) you can see in the last pic

Rusty ( for those who don’t know )

So here goes
I stated with a standard 5.5” gold Dalek

I designed and resin printed some accessories

I then started work cutting and weather damaging the Dalek

I also made some rings for around certain skirt domes

You can see the silver rings hanging off the original
I have also found some thin electric wire that will do the job
I now need to design and print the head gear that holds all the wires to the top

I will have a go at air brushing some fresh weather / battle damage later
That’s all for now thanks for looking

I love what you have done so far

also, that is a whole lot of Daleks!
He does have a lots of the 5.5” Daleks but I’m ashamed to say I have more, I collected the 5.5 and the 12” ones inc boxes n boxes of the action figures

Some very heavy weathering before I rub it all back
Then add some fresh brass, bronze and old gold
Also Cut back the wires, going to melt them a little later
Going to cut the eye front next

Been busy designing the dome pieces and printed them on the resin printer

A little clean up with a file and a light coat of primer

A splash of paint later

So so tiny
Then glued them to the dome

Now to battle with the wires
On the screen Rusty is tethered with 5 black chunky cables that the thinner blue wires go into

I had an old usb cable I cut down and removed the inner wires

The blue wires now fit into the end

Now the metal ends are made from some old steel rivets, I cut the flanged end off with a dremel and pushed the wires in

I saved some very thin copper wire for tethering some of the skirt dome rings that look like they’ve come loose, I also used some in the eye stalk to look like the eye is damaged

More tomorrow
Thanks for looking

Gave the dome rings a little rub down to get rid of the elephants foot from the resin printer and gave them a light blast of primer
B013892F-4286-4D85-B2EC-37128BBD6D23.jpeg

Then a couple of light coats of alclad ll chrome

Stuck the rings on added some wires, a touch of weathering and a flash of satin lacquer to help protect the paint, it will dull up a little
Can’t be bothered with any more work on this as I’ve other projects on the go and this was meant to be a quickie
Thanks for looking
