wow!! I got the sidewinder kit coming at some point (patiently waiting) but this looks absolutely beautiful! This empire ee3 is tops. Beautiful work DannThere really is no substitute for real chrome! It can make all the difference. It can make something that's 90% plastic look totally legit. (As long as you've got some decent paintin' skills!)View attachment 854277View attachment 854278

Also swapped out the scope rings for a minute.

Yeah yeah, I know!!Great attention to detail...as always!
But to be accurate, you need two differently sized thumbscrews on the scope rings of the VD version
Here's a couple more pics, I've made an initial finishing pass. Still some work to do yet.
I've forgotten the proper size for the mystery disc, is this too big?
I need to decide on my method for mating the upper and lower. I may have to draw something up, since I've filled in the screw hole under the barrel, and the holes for the pins, though since the upper has been moved, they wouldn't work anyway.
I'd like this to be a mechanical connection, and relatively easy to take back apart if need be. I may model something that'll go inside the magazine well, grab onto the 1/4-20 rod for the scope bracket, and then somehow attach to the upper. Just need to picture it in my head.

Thanks, man! Yeah, that was a TON of work, that project. I do not envy any who go to such lengths with a Denix. I don’t know if I’d have the patience to do it again!I don’t know how I possibly missed this build and all its amazing details?!! Damn man this is absolutely amazing and beautiful. All the way back in 2019 as well. True outstanding. Hates off brother!
I don't even remember. I'm pretty sure they're available on Thingiverse, but I do remember that I HEAVILY modified the model so that the dust cover could be repositioned. It was not easy, but it was worth it, and necessary, in my opinion.Nice! May I ask whose files you used?
No idea. That name doesn't ring any bells.Spacebobs maybe?
