Defying gravity

I got a screen-used spacesuit and background helmet from the Propworx auction because I'm silly-for-spacesuits and decided to grab the DVD just to see what-went-where and HOLY CRAP! is this show not only entertaining but rife with excellent props.

I have an excuse for not seeing it at the time it was first aired as we were pregnant/having a birth/raising an infant when this show was first on, but dang is this show excellent. What a drag it didn't continue.

Wow I forgot all about the show. As usual it didn't get a chance like most shows anymore.

As I recall, it premiered in late july or early august. Pretty much a statement from the network that unless this thing just explodes with viewers, it's toast.

Did they ever say what the ship was carrying since the show was canceled? The final aired show was the whole crew got to see what it was. Clearly, we were to find out when it picked back up - it just didn't.

I've been reading up on the show, and it was really behind the eight-ball from the start. These two articles tell of the issues of marketing, and how the show would have gone had it progressed:

How Defying Gravity would have progressed, straight from the creator | CliqueClack TV

How Defying Gravity would have ended: the final chapter | CliqueClack TV

This is some serious scifi and probably why it got canned because they couldn't figure out something that wasn't a cop show, a lawyer show, or any other genre they normally cookie cutter into production.

I knew it was you who bought that suit! I'm glad you like it, packed it myself, there made so freakin well! We (Propworx) have another auction coming up in Feb with alot of Defying Gravity stuff, so if ya missed out the first time there will be lots for ya this time

February! Got it.

I needs me a Hero Jumpsuit (blue, Rolies) and a Wass jumpsuit. Some more name tag patches would be cool too.

I enjoyed the show too. I had hoped it'd do better if for no other reason than I was glad to see Ron Livingston on the show.

I only read the second link, and it sounds like it would have been pretty cool. I'm sure I like the alternate universe thing though. Seems like it cheats the characters. Everything changes but no one knows it.

sounds good. but the one thing I hate is a universal reset button ending.

case in point - a number of trek episodes, prince of persia movie.

it negates all the value of watching the show.

I think I'd have gone with it, right up to the reset.

I would have had them assemble the fractals at the end, but the bright light, parks them back over earth, no alternate reality, it just plays out as seen and the world will know something's up and the 'conspiracy' would be revealed.

@ larry. nice score on the suit. there was some really nice design on that show. lots of good stuff I fancied in the auction but the dispatch prices from propworx for oversees delivery just killed me.

I missed the show when it was on (the 10PM time slow and marketing as "Grey's Anatomy in space" sure didn't make me wanna watch it) and became a fan through netflix afterward and I have since gotten a few of the props from the show, all very well made...

The interesting thing is that the spacesuits lived on (briefly) in an episode of Eureka where they were worn by Fargo and the Holly character played by Felicia Day. So in way you got a two for one with the spacesuit, used in both Defying Gravity and Eureka although there's probably no real way to tell whether yours was one of the two used on Eureka unless there's some sort of mark left by where they placed the Astraues patch used in the episode of Eureka.

I wish they could bring this show back but no, they destroyed the set, sold the props and now they have simple cliche driven crap like Terra Nova.
