Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge- step by step description of lightsaber building experience

It is gonna cost me more to buy stuff at the store then an actual Galaxy's Edge trip. Maybe.

I wonder if you will be able to buy stuff online or ONLY locally?
Give it some time and you'll see stuff pop up on eBay because kids get caught up in the excitement along with their parents, most will end up there after so many months of just sitting around houses unused.

Every once in a while what is called authentic park merchandise makes its way to DisneyStore.com. They've sold the current removal blade sabers (rey, vader, Kylo) and they also sold things like the blue tooth trooper comlink. Sometimes I think it is if they are trying to clear out older merchandise. I'm not expecting to see much of this stuff posted on their store site. The Avatar land in Animal Kingdom has a bunch of great and unique products and none of it has even been on their website. I would also expect that many items will not be at the Disney Spring stores either. I thing it depends on if a Star Wars item is an exclusive to that land or if it is something you can find also find at the store on main street or that Venus gifts in future land... stuff like that.

I would also think that if a certain item gets overstocked, it might be available to other outlets such as Springs, Main Street, Website,

You’re right. I think they’ll figure out real quickly what is a hot seller and what’s not. The most obscure items will be items that we can snatch up as it’ll interest us for its “cool” factor.

I’m 2.5 hours away for Disney World. The plan is to do a family trip next spring. Maybe even do a season pass next year too. But I’m going to tell everyone looking to get me a Christmas gift to get me Disney Store gift cards because you can use them in the park.

You need to work on making friends with a cast member too so they can buy everything for you in order to make your gift cards go that much further. What you really want is make friends with a long time cast member who gets the 35% discount, that'll really help.

ATTENTION DISNEY WORLD CAST MEMBERS...

They also have the Shop Parks app that lets you buy directly from the parks. They won't have anything at first, but eventually I imagine you would be able to get at least some of the stuff from there.

The shop parks app is not very helpful in most cases. Most of the time the stuff you can buy on the app are items listed at DisneyStore.com. A lot of the unique items that are listed are for in-store purchase only. And I also know that not all products sold in the park are even listed on the app at all. The app is more help in locating the items in the park.

With that said, once the new products are released, I’m sure a few will be available for purchase via the app. However I just wouldn’t get your hopes up for a particular product to be one of them.

Custom Lightsaber build prices have been announced at Galaxys Edge
May 21, 2019
Savi’s Workshop at Batuu (Galaxy’s Edge) is the place to be to get your very own customised lightsaber for $199.99 plus tax.
Travel to Black Spire Outpost, where a group known as the “Gatherers” ushers you into a covert workshop packed with unusual parts, whimsical pieces and miscellaneous memorabilia collected from the far reaches of the galaxy.
Under their guidance, you can construct your very own lightsaber and bring it to life through the power of kyber crystals. Builders beware—you must protect the shop’s secrecy to avoid being discovered by the First Order!
$199.99 is a lot of cash but you are promised a quality item and a whole load of adventures and experience to come with it.
The Gatherers will now help you select the heart of your lightsaber—the kyber crystal, which is available in red, blue, green or violet.
Next, begin assembling your hilt—parts will be provided based on your theme and cloisonné pin. Each box of parts includes:
1 hilt
4 sleeves (pick 2)
2 emitters (pick 1)
2 pommel caps (pick 1)
2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set)
Upon hilt completion, the unused parts will be collected by the Gatherers and returned to Savi’s inventory. These are not included with your lightsaber package.
Finally, the Gatherers will masterfully connect your hilt to a 36” lightsaber blade so you’re ready for anything the galaxy puts in your path!

I saw some people posting their custom built saber’s from Galaxy’s Edge Disneyland and it looks like I may pass on these sabers.
They look like they’re big fat Playskool sabers... or an eggplant.

Kinda disappointed ...[emoji3525] .

How is that possible? Is there some sort of soft opening? The land doesn’t open till 31 May.

Based on the Celebration photos and the way they are made, the hilts will tend to be on the fatter side. IMHO, the first two categories, Peace and Justice / Power and Control don’t look as good due to this, but the other two Elemental Nature / Protection and Defense. I’m very excited about the Elemental Nature. I’ve been looking at the available pieces to decide what I want. For sure getting the Rancor tooth pommel.

Why does Luke’s have a gold neck? Shouldn’t it be copper?
Luke's saber from the OT was a rather dark yellow brass color. Misconceptions came about because the ANH-era Obi Wan stunt that was recycled for jedi was redecorated with copper paint instead of brass. There are also pictures in the visual dictionary of Luke's ROTJ Hero that are very dark when it comes to color adjustment (the green and red arrows are a good clue for color comparison) so the dark brass color almost looks red.

I think in TFA Luke's saber was a very blackened brass color as well
