Honestly, hopefully it looks more like a c96 but truly thank you!

So I’ve gotten the new parts designed and made. I think I can improve it subtly just a little more but the cotter pins and added screws really came out and add a nice touch..

Finally got this saber finished. All the details that I am presently aware of I was able to add into the design itself including the chipped fin on the booster. I also believe I got all the parts to come to a rest specifically as they did on the Chronicles version of this saber. Wasn’t easy considering I’m using threaded parts within the design itself to bring it all together but I do think it came out pretty good. This was a blast to recreate and deep dive into. An iconic prop I’m very happy to add to my growing collection!

Vanitas thanks man! Appreciate it. It’s a long road ahead but mostly just a waiting game at this point. Can‘t do much but thank goodness for CAD and this Bambu Labs printer. It’s definitely helped pass the time! Between RPF deep dives, designing and printing.. one can lose a hours, if not days doing this stuff. Definitely a good silver lining to be grateful for!

I wont be able to for a little while. Suffered an injury that’s keeping me off my feet most of the day. But once I can I’d love to take an airbrush to it and see what happens. cjunco1937 I know is thinking of giving it a go. Hopefully he’ll share some pics when he does. I’d love to see it myself!

Definitely. I’m excited to get at it. Already started looking at reference pics for the weathering…

I started a project run thread to see if anyone would like one of these OB1 saber prints to display for themselves. I put up a bunch of pictures over there as well if you want to see more. No worries if not, just simply making it available since I do now have the resources..

Looking real nice!

Of course, now you just have one more RotJ blaster to make... ;)

I’ve looked at that blaster but there isn’t any really good pics to draw from. I also do have to agree with cjunco1937.. not sure I really want to go down that road to much either. Outside the PS/RIA blaster I don’t have to much interest in none screen used variants.

But never say never right?!

Fair enough, though at least unlike the RIA blaster this one was legitimately assembled for the movie, held by Ford and even shot!

Markus also has a reasonably good build of it sans the mystery flash hider, and it might also be worth studying the footage to see if it really is the same base C96 as the hero as originally thought (matching lug points, etc).

Also by that same note, the Greedo Killer is in a same questionable canonocity, especially considering it was not even Ford's hand that pulled it out of the holster in its one and only shot.

Edit: a few extra pics.

Well honestly I did that PS/RIA blaster mostly as a way to improve my CAD skills. Otherwise I have no real interest in it either.

As far as that bunker blaster goes I have all those pics already actually but thank you V for sharing. I’ve also been asked a few times to make that blaster over the years but you can’t really see anything outside of a lot of subjective parts. That blaster OdiWan72 made is really nice and I really respect that dude as he’s clearly a SW fan first and foremost but that’s simply how he sees it. I wouldn’t just simply copy what he’s done unless I could actually see it myself.

And for the GK.. well it’s on screen with or without Fords hand right?! It’s also actually in Fords hand for some famous publicity stills and because of this its lore is clearly cemented within the SW universe don’t you think. Where as this bunker blaster is simply.. confusing.

But to each their own right?? That’s the best thing about this hobby. There’s room for all us and all our preferences.
