There is some seriously beautiful work in this thread.
Thank you for taking the time to look through it. It’s getting kind of long and unorganized at the moment but I definitely do appreciate the kind words! Cheers!

I have an old, old Denix conversion that isn't really accurate to any of the builds but I like it.Thank you for taking the time to look through it. It’s getting kind of long and unorganized at the moment but I definitely do appreciate the kind words! Cheers!
Great work! Would love to see one of these obi wan prints fully weathered up.So I’m still not able to get back to every day life just yet which is keeping me from finishing a couple builds and truly jump into what can be accomplished with painting and weathering these FDM prints. But after doing that little paint test earlier it was encouraging enough to try a dusting on my Obi Wan SWC saber. Specifically the Windvane Cover…View attachment 1759646View attachment 1759650View attachment 1759649
Honestly so would I & thank you! One of these days I get around to it as I‘ve found some nice rust paint that I think would add a lot as well..Great work! Would love to see one of these obi wan prints fully weathered up.
He really did a great job in that blaster. Here’s a couple FDM prints that have been painted. I did not paint them myself but each have turned out really nicely so I simply wanted to share.
cjunco1937 did the saber and these pics are with his metal build for comparison. For the blaster I don’t know if this gentleman is on theRPF so I’ve attached his instagram handle. Either way both did an excellent job.
Impressive.. most impressive!

Finally finished my FDM version of this amazingly beautiful prop. The ANH Hero from the original Star Wars. It’s fully printed except for 9 screws and 3 springs I believe. It’s made up from over 50 individual prints in order to reduce support scaring as much as possible as well as increasing strength by breaking parts up to be laid flat on the print bed. It was quite a challenge but the end results I believe speak for themselves.
All parts where brought to life on a Bambu Labs P1S with most being printed with a .4mm nozzle at .12mm layer height. For a couple parts that require extra fine details (scope wheel & base numbers) I used a .2mm nozzle at .06mm layer height.
Specific details to mention:
• flash hider is lose. While it will rotate and tilt upwards just a little bit to capture how it appeared in the last know photo.. it will not flop down. There’s a stop so it will sit flat otherwise.
• heatsink sits almost (if not exactly) how it appears on the film prop itself. It’s also “rough” in its appearance.
• scope wheel spins like it should and uses two 3d printed screws in order to attach it authentically.
• scope is obviously not functional but it is see through with glass lenses
• mount rail is off set
• right grip includes the scaring designed into the file
• scope bell also has the scaring designed into the file
• all the proper stamping (both the numbers and letters) where all drawn by hand to recreate those accurate details
• it can be field striped
• safety, trigger, hammer, bolt and sight all function as they should. There’s a spring even within the sight slide.
• 3 individual antenna greeblies that are magnetically attached to the bull barrel for display purposes. One fully intact, how it was believed to be originally created. Another with one antenna greeblie missing, like it appeared in preproduction photos and lastly one with only the head of one antenna greeblie remaining. Just how it appeared in postproduction before it was returned to Bapty and lost to history forever.
• mount uprights are different thicknesses and off set as well as proper scaring
• mag plate is removable
• I even throw in Carson’s lump
I think that’s everything.. I certainly tried to duplicate it as accurately to the actual film prop as one could.
Certain parts (mostly internals) had to be modified for printing & safety purposes but cosmetically it’s pretty much how it appeared after Roger Christian got through with it. Is it perfect.. heck no but it is close!
I really happy with how this one came out.

onderon thanks man! No I don’t think I’m going to sell the files at the moment for couple reasons. One is that there are SO many individual parts that need to be orientated and printed correctly and then assembled as well I feel for most it would be way too complicated. Not saying you couldn’t do it but for most it would be way to much. I also don’t want to draw up blue prints on how to do it either. That would take forever. I’ve already spent years on these.
I’m also a bit of a control freak and don’t like the idea of my files being misused or misrepresented. I’ve shared some in the past with bad results. Not worth it moving forward. Lastly I’ll put a few up on ETSY at a very reasonable price. I’ll continue to do so when time permits to make them available. Each blaster honestly takes about a week to print. I could definitely do them faster if I printed at a higher layer height and all one color. But those are details I personally don’t want to skip. I think it adds very much to overall look.
