Do you have any requirements when it comes to props?

That's so sad.

lol. Wouldn't it also extremely limit the stuff in the collection? I mean there are only so many items you can get out of that franchise. I'm on the other end of the spectrum, if i think its cool i want one even if its something minor.

I love other movies. I love Blade Runner, Ghostbusters, Alien, Indiana Jones, many many other movies.

I just don't love them enough to spend time/ money on props. I'd love the Blaster from Blade Runner, but then I realize for what that would cost I could get 3 new lightsabers or a better Darth Vader helmet. I just really love Star Wars.

I read almost every prop Thread no matter what prop or from what movie. I love seeing how peoples replicas look, the techniques they used, how they compare to the screen prop. I love the process. I can only afford the Star Wars stuff for myself.

Either anything star wars related or something that I remember from my favorite childhood films.

What ever catches my fancy at the moment.
Many items are Iconic others just neat.

Many times it's not always so much the object but the quest to build or obtain it, the research.

While it do have a wish list many times a quest starts with something I see in a post or a question someone asks, then the research begins, lasting anywhere from a few hours to months depending on what it is.

Sometimes it's an item of opportunity, something cool for a good price.

It all comes down to the "why" i want a prop.

Usually it has to be Star Wars, to be even noticed by me.

But - i have some ST stuff for deco reasons, to use it in my ST-themed Home-Cinema. Cause SW props wouldn´t mix good with the ST ambience. I have no other ST-props than these that can be used in the ENT-"world".

Then, on very rare occasions, something others catches my eye - but it has to be something special for me, to contain the essence of a movie i loved once - as the Conan Snake Amulett.

But as a prop, just cause it is a prop - it has to be SW. It has to be equipment, be it a blaster, a com, a welder - no set decoration, no custume stuff.

And it needs to have the special SW-feeling for me, not everything they used makes me feel "SW".

Then it has to be made in a quality way, i prefer good craftmanship over accuracy. I would never spend even 50$ for a wonky but accurate Stormtrooper or Vader helmet - it has to be made perfect symmetrical, straight lines, defined curves, .... as it would be "in real", not like butchered together by some guys in a hurry, to be used in 1 or 2 scenes.

I love certain pieces because of their looks and the idea behind them. For some of them there is also the nostalgia of what a piece might remind me of as in my youth when I saw a certain show or movie. Others might be just because of the type of piece and where it fits in the genre. I like concept stuff that never saw screen time and might never have made it past a paper drawing. While I would love to have some of these pieces that were screened used, it isn't a necessity and accuracy, while cool, is not a primary concern. As long as there is no doubt of what it represents and the quality is good, I'm pretty content. I always have had a pretty narrow focus on what I would want. Weapons & field equipment mainly with weapons taking it even narrower for the most part. Usually I won't collect a piece that I don't like the design although there have been some exceptions.
