i don't know if I'm the first to notice this, but that kind of looks like the Starfleet insignia.

Hello there - looks awesone.

Just curious - is it very heavy and does it come apart for transport?

Thanks all.

Just curious - is it very heavy and does it come apart for transport?

It is built to come apart for transport, yes - and spends much of its time in that state at the moment, sadly.

And it is pretty heavy, yes. It's mainly ply construction, and to keep the strength, I haven't drilled holes to cut down on the weight. It's still possible for one person to carry each of the chunks fairly comfortably, though.

Currently it consists of the six panels; two baseboards; the column; the column collar; two plinth halves; six support spurs; and eventually six panel edges. This is before adding an internal mechanism to drive the column, as well.

Well - a little more work on the TARDIS console here:

Still more to do. The reverse is still unclad and unpainted, and the column needs its acrylic cover, and its mechanism. Also need to make more panel dividers, and finish controls on two of the panels. Getting there though... :)

Those older consoles, for all their low-tech big knobs and switches, at least look like control consoles and not the result of bolting on stuff from a rubbish heap. I love the new show but question the creative wisdom of bike pumps and typewriter keys as controls.

ok... it is awesome to say the least... but i have no clue what you are going to do with it. It breaks apart so are you taking it to cons? or just a fixture in your home? My mind is blown and confused.
