I've been working on this for a bit lately, but finally had some time to post some pics and a write up to my blog. For more pics and details, check out this blog post.

The Project Workbench: Doctor Who Bells of St. John Costume

This is the costume I will be replicating:

So far I have the Abbyshot jacket, which I am really impressed with. This is the third jacket I have purchased from them. As always, great quality and great customer service.

Picked up this pair of Steve Madden shoes on ebay for 40 bucks. Not exact, but pretty close. They needed a seam repaired, but that was no problem. I have since painted them, and will post pics shortly.

Also got this fob chain from ebay. Thank you pumpkiny for the intel. Need to replace the charm.

That's it for now. Already have a line on a vest and shirt, and will purchase some off-the-rack black jeans to complete the outfit.

Anyone have any close up pics of the bow tie in the above photo, or know where to acquire a good match?

Magnoli is working on the bow tie, but it's not likely to be done soon. Definitely not before Gally, if that's what you were shooting for.

I have the same Steve Madden boots, they're pretty great.

Thanks for the info, Dan! I love the sound the boots make when I walk on concrete or wood. Good, posh noise! lol.

I don't suppose you know of anyplace online with some good reference shots of the tie in the publicity photo above?

Here's a pic of the painted shoes, which I just added to the blog:

Off the top of my head, the best place to go for reference pictures is the last 10-15 pages of Magnoli's necktie thread. People have been posting pretty good shots in there.

A company called "Mrs Bow Tie" offers a line of Doctor Who tribute ties, some of which appear very close to their screen-seen counterparts.

Blue & Purple Bark - Dr Who Tribute - Mrs Bow Tie

Thoughts??

Great tip! I will check it out right now.

The Mrs. Bow Tie ties (some of them at least) are decent visual representations of the real ties, but they're completely flat and the color is dull. Printing just isn't the way to go for ties. That said, if in a pinch, the chevron bow tie would almost look decent printed. I wouldn't go for the Bells tie though, that thing is embroidery on top of textured silk.

(that bark tie looks pretty awful, though.)

EDIT: Just checked them all out, their chevron tie is horribly inaccurate. I personally wouldn't wear any of them.
