Dune Part 2 Water of Life decanter

I’d assume it was made for the film but thought I’d ask if anyone has info on it? It’s such a cool piece. My best bet is to probably have it modeled to print.

It looks like it is or was inspired by a Moroccan/Moorish perfume/sprinkler bottle.
Oh awesome, thank you! You’re absolutely correct. I was confident “decanter” wasn’t the right term when I made this post to begin with but went with it haha

It was also my favorite costume in the film. I’m so glad that concept art exists. I’ve gotta find someone who can 3D model this ornate gilded work on the bottle.

I’ll have to get my hands on the Dune part 2 art book because there’s a fantastic piece of concept art for it

I believe that prop was created from a 'long neck flat bottom flask' made for scientific use. The neck decoration can be achieved with a simple glass engraver such as the small Proxxon tool.

You can find all different sizes and neck lengths to get the perfect screen match as well. They can get expensive for higher quality versions, but for recreating this prop you can go cheap and get them under $20 for sure.

The rest of the ornate gold bits could be 3D printed like you said. These could probably be batched out pretty easily since those flasks are often sold in multi packs. Really cool prop!

This one doesn't quite have the same neck length, but I chose this picture for obvious reasons:

Yes thanks! After looking at a ton of different types of vases I also landed specifically on science flasks. volumetric flasks have a good shape to them. Longer necks but would just need to cut it down some.

Where you able to find someone to print the ornate bits?
I hired someone to design them for me so I can print myself. The hardest thing has been sourcing a glass flask that is accurate. I’ve spent hours. Closest thing I found was an olive oil dispenser. Shape wise it’s great need the long neck so it’s a no go.

Nice! Do you mind sharing which dispenser you found? Maybe I’ll try my hand at making something too

Totally! The 10oz size is ideal but the neck and top obviously need to be cut off and a longer neck added.

I also got a pack of these test tubes to try and cut down with a dremel and diamond blade to then just attach it to the neck since the ornate details would hide it.
These fit the neck perfectly and also work perfect with the metal spout from a rose water sprinkler I bought off eBay.

I tried cutting some with my dremel and kept failing but I was trying it when I was super busy with other things and really needed to rig up a water drip so the glass wouldn’t crack etc. so it’s been on hold for a while haha

Let me know if you try something out or find something else. I probably don’t need to be as particular about the glass bottle as I am and just get a volumetric flask instead, but I’m determined to try and make it as accurate as possible.

This one is my last resort if I settle for it being a different shape.

Sweet find. This makes a wonderful base glass for this project as far as I can see.
