A bump for this old thread due to renewed interest in Junkyard.

""This was a project I was interested in the very first time around....the subsequent ones never seemed to get off the ground....I'd be interested if ALL the parts were to be made available, or good castings in either metal or resin. This is a weapon I really, really want to replicate""

I wanted to discuss this project further.
I don't think anyone is just going to hand this project out on a plate. It's like the Obi-Wan saber you have to gather the parts from several sources real or replica.
Part breakdown:

Tip - Found part is still fairly available. I'm sure I could find enough to fill demand although they may run $15 (hopefully less if found cheaper). I could also sell correct vintage clamps only - if people picked up the currently still produced real tip with wrong clamp at their local hardware store.

Vader-ish rod piece - Needs to be machined (Chris Reiff and I could blueprint and price machining)

Yamaha model parts - Macklin has molds already or MonCal can cast his parts

Phillips head screw looking piece - This is a "bolt" from the C-3PO costume. I bought a replica from TK409.

Hairdryer - A fairly easy found part (thrift stores, eBay)

Soaker - Very hard to find piece, but can be cast (I'd be willing to sell or trade a real one for casting).
I have no interest in a metal one.

Blade - I really want to see these done right in aluminum (Chris Reiff and I could blueprint and price machining)

1" Aluminum tubing - local hardware store

Han toy blaster grill - buy a used one off eBay or at a flea market (red or vintage black). It hardly seems worth casting, but if needed someone probably could.

That's about it. Other add on bits are likely best made by scratchbuilding.
A decent match could be found for the ridged tubing.

It's not that difficult of a project.

I'm still interested as well. Thanks to Chris's help I have a few parts with him now, but still need a lot more parts to get an axe completed.

I'm on a lead to some parts and would be willing to contribute in the further development of the project as a whole.

I too would love to have the blade in aluminum....it seems there are a lot of parts rather easily tracked down.

Here's to getting a few more of us a nice Vibro-Axe :cheers

Steve

I still have the original Kenner Heat sink I sent to Sink Tube Jedi for casting.

I'm not sure if he's still around but if he's not I will be glad to mail the part to someone to use as a master, even if they can't cast it in metal.

As for the aluminum blade, any machined part requires big numbers to make it do-able

It would take at least 20 people and even then it would cost at least $100 for the assembly (main blade and 2 supports) but I would be will to handle that aspect of the project if enough people sign up.

I just bought some parts from a member recently and would like to see this thing get finished. I am interested in the rest of the parts.

but I do not arrive has envoiyer the photographs on the forum

Guys, just so you know, I have the remains of a back-burner project that has been sitting around for a while.

As soon as I got my bubbler a few years back I cut it in half, intending to make hollow casts. This proved problematic, considering all the filling for the grooves, and I concluded that I should just shelve the project and improve my skills before tackling it.

I had no idea they were solid casts until I read Chris's post. Given that info, I can glue styrene to the inside around the grooves and cast these up solid as kits.

Thing is, I most likely won't be able to do it until early next year. I have a lot on my plate at home and at work until the end of the holiday season, and I know I won't be able to provide reliable customer service until then.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up and let you know that I've already sacrificed my bubbler for the greater good. :p

I also have the Yamaha parts. I sold a few on the first run and everyone seemed pleased with the quality of the kits. There is already interest in this kit and I plan to re-tool the molds and do a run next year.

I just found this thread... too many threads and forums to keep up with ;)

Here are some parts I've been gathering over the years

vibroaxekit01smkn1.jpg

The plastic blade and home made co2 cartridge piece I bought off a member here a while back.

The bubbler I found at a local junk store. It probably isn't the right one but could be made to look close.

I did cast up that yamaha motorcycle piece a while back for myself. The mold has only been used the one time so I would be happy to help out with that piece. I don't want to step on any toes so if Macklin has it covered that's cool. I'm pretty busy anyway. I would be willing to make them for whatever is fair.. a couple bucks or whatever to cover shipping etc.

now I need to remember to check this thread from time to time :p

This is a very quick and crude photo edit so please excuse the poor quality ;)

Anyway.. this was originally my thought for my bubbler. I would cut it in half, make the modifications necessary so it would be more accurate and cast it in two resin halves so it would look similiar to this:

vibroaxekit04hw2.jpg

It would of course need to turn out better than my photo editing but that was my idea

If someone can cast an accurate bubbler then I'm all for that... I'll throw that idea out the window ;)

Also... has anyone located a source for these parts?:

hello moncal it east exellent you has all say me if I could find a bubbler because I seek a mercy by advance of it hones

I think casting the bubbler would be a bad idea.

If it was cast hollow it would be very fragile and if you made it solid it would be very hard to cast correctly and keep it accurate.

I have a real bubble, if we could get 20-30 people I could have it machined for a reasonable price ($50 price range)
